Hopefully this warrants a new thread, if not I guess lock it. Anyway, Saturday seemes to be shaping up with late nights pretty well already, yet Friday is lacking still.
So far, we have confirmed:
Friday: STS9
Saturday: The Flaming Lips Gov't Mule Sasha and Digweed
Now I fully believe that SCI will be coupled with STS9, like UM-->Disco Biscuits last year, but that is still only one late night for Friday. It doesn't look like we are getting anymore big added bands, so what are the other late nights going to be for Friday?
I could see Roots being late night, but I have no clue what else would be for Friday. Also, I think Galactic has been rumored for Saturday night.

^^^Good ones. There's no way Girl Talk will NOT be late night, so we can just assume that. Brazilian Girls is a possibility, but they played late night in '05 so that makes them a little less likely I think. I've seen them in the daytime and they do just fine with it. Hot Chip is also a strong choice.
Remember, though, that Tortoise is on for Friday, and we all know they deserve a late night spot, and would totally own it as well.

Like I said Saturday night is pretty filled up at this point, especially if Galactic plays late night as well. Friday I guess could be well rounded out with The Roots and Tortoise. They all seem likely for late night, and it would split the crowds up pretty well each night.
I saw Shadow back in september and am convinced he will be late night. He has this video screen that is somehow tied into what he is doing. Don't ask me how he does it, but he controls the video with his set-up and it's perfectly on time with what he is doing. It's completely sick. He also has a nice lightshow. I just don't see him doing his set during the daytime.
I really think we're gonna get an Electronica Tent on Friday kinda like what we got with the Hip Hop Tent on Friday last year. At least that's my hope. Something along the lines of Brazillian Girls>Tortoise>Girl Talk>Shadow, or any combination of these. this would be disastrous in my mind. i'm strongly inclined to agree that if sts9 was pulling their own tent in '03 and '05, they have certainly grown even more since then and will have their own tent again. furthermore, there is not a doubt in my mind that i will not be missing a minute of their set, so i truly hope i don't have to abandon hope of seeing any of those 4 that i was really looking forward to

yea, i've been talking to a friend and we both think that STS9 could possibly cap off the Electronic tent. something like Shadow>Brazillian Girls>STS9 til sunrise. I just really think it's time for Bonnaroo to do a full-on electronic late night. They've done it for pretty much every other genre (besides country/bluegrass which is better in the sunlight anyway).

see i think superfly does this on purpose. last year they went so far as to announce the sat. headlienr on the news section far before the schedual came out. then when superfly decided to hand us the scheduale via their website we find out friday headliner is my morning jacket we jump for joy at this amazing suprising thing that happened. flash foward one year. oh we know the lips gov't mule and sasha are latengight are sat. maybe they have something super awesome that noone excpects on friday again

He probably works closely with a vj. A lot of djs are using them now. There's a free concert series that came through Austin last summer/fall called Fuzion that is specifically about DJs collaborating with VJs. DJ Spooky did a video mashup set mixing the songs and videos of the songs he was playing at the same time. Mixing Biggie and Cobain is one thing, mixing their video images is an entirely mindblowing experience.
I can't believe how awesome the line-up is looking for the late night sets....looks like I'm not going to be sleeping to much, but between waking up at sunrise b/c my tent gets so frigin' hot, and not wanting to miss anything...I guess being up 80% of the time is a given.

I like this idea of a full electronic set on Friday, but maybe it's a mixture of electronic and hip hop.
So given that Friday could look like this:
What Stage
This Tent ---> String Cheese Incident (12 - 3) That Tent ---> Gogol Bordello (12:00 - 1:00) ---> Manu Chao (1:30 - 3:30) The Other Tent ---> The Roots (12:00 - 1:30) --> DJ Shadow (1:30 - 3:00) --> STS9 (3:00-???)
If they put DJ Shadow in the sound booth like they did with Girl Talk at Langerado, they could use the stage for set up and take down time, and there'd be no overlap.

Just speculating, I have a feeling on his blog ?uestLove was hinting at something with Superjam. My guess is SuperJam will be hip hop this year with the Roots as a backup band, I remember someone saying about the Roots doing a huge summer show calling up all kinds of guests like Ghostface and Mr. Lif, and a whole bunch more. My guess is that show is SuperJam (espicially considering ?uestlove said it was something like what he did with Pino and Herbie in 05)

I saw DJ Shadow on the Quannum World tour a few years ago and he was using "DVD scratchers" and claiming that it was the first time they were being used. Lifesavas were using them on the same tour to great effect (basically Versatyle had a duet with his video self). It's a simple but effective concept. Instead of scratching records, many DJ's (certainly including Shadow) "scratch" CDs. It's not to far of a leap from them to use DVD's with videos on them and have the images projected on the screens "scratch" with the music. I've seen it (with a full explanation from Shadow) in person and its cool. More recently I saw a Cut Chemist show where he utilized this plenty. It didn't involve a VJ, though. They were just "scratching" DVDs. It's cool.
I think the late-night void is likely to be filled by hip-hop. I haven't been following the schedule threads, but unless there is info to the contrary I think El-P/Aesop Rock is likely. If not, I think the Quannum crew of Gift of Gab/Lateef/Shadow is likely. There will be late night hip-hop and it will be awesome and I will be jealous that I'm not there.

Man, if it really is Flaming Lips vs Gov't Mulemthat will be a hard decision. Of course I may have my mind made up (Flips) but I may have to try and wrestle with myslef about that one.

Someone in another thread pointed out something that could make Mule's show "special." Phil and Friends are playing Mountain Jam in NY the weekend before Bonnaroo. It is not too hard to believe that Phil would make the trip down to TN a week later to play with Warren. Plus last year he said we had a date for this year, so he could be back in some compacity, and this would make the most sense. It would mean that he could join Bobby for the Ratdog show as well, but don't hold your breath for that one.
If this happens though, I hope Phil is only a guest for the second set. I know I'm being selfish, but damnit I wanna see all of the Flaming Lips and still catch the better part of the Mule show as well! Damn you Bonnaroo conflicts!!!!!!

This stuff was somewhere else on the board a few days ago. ?uestlove is probably guaranteed for the Superjam (he was in it last time they were there, too, apparently), but I think he said The Roots were definitely doing a late night show. I guess they're a logical fit for Friday, but we'll see. The way I read it, he definitely said it was going to be something special, bigger than what they usually do. If Ghostface comes out, wow.
