While everyone is going crazy over the main days of the festival, it looks like Thursday could be a huge sleeper. The past few years Thursday has been OK, nothing spectacular, but a few good/great sets. This is the first Thursday where I can honestly say I will have a full schedule of bands to see.
With the bands playing usually at 7pm or later, in tents, they all pretty much have night time shows as well. You basically get mini latenight sets from a handful of bands. Plus the fact that most of them are playing to their biggest crowds yet, they really go for it, and try to win over new fans.
There are a bunch of terrific bands this year. I just hope a few of my biggies don't overlap. In order of most exciting to least for me:
The National The Black Angels Clutch Annuals Dubconscious Tea Leaf Green Rodrigo Y Gabriella Apollo Sunshine
I have a really sh#tty feeling that Clutch, The Black Angels, and The National will all be at the same time though.
So who are you really looking forward to on Thursday? Also, I am not counting Ziggy, because I honestly believe there is no way in hell he will be on Thursday.

im really bummed out cuz im going to be missing thursday night (comin in Friday morning) but what can i do ( i guess ill have to hear about it from everyone else!!! ;D
I'm excited for Bonnaroo and Thursday is the unofficial now official start to Bonnaroo, so hell yea I'm excited for Thursday. I personally have been exposed to some really good music on thursday that I would never have heard otherwise. These have included The Machine, Peelander Z, Papa Mali, Rose Hill Drive, The Wood Brothers, and Toubab Krewe to name a few.
I'm excited for The Annuals, Apollo Sunshine (missed them at langerado) and the Black Angels. Those bands could really due the trick for me. I am really really digging the Annuals right now. I'm also very excited for the VIP surprise show. In years past it has been really good with The Duo, and Dirty Dozen Brass Band. Last year it was Rebirth Brass Band.
So yea, Thursday I'll have my dancin' shoes laced up.
also, I'd like to add that I think there is a chance that Clutch will not be on thursday. Last year the thursday bands were all the bands at the bottom of the artist list (As opposed to the top bands all being on the which stage or what stage). If you compare this years thursday list to the artist list, it follows this trend.
Clutch is a little higher on the list than a thursday billing would indicate.
Yeah I hope Clutch isnt on Thursday. They are a bigger name on the list. But there schedule shows they will be elsewhere on 15-17. Just have to wait til the official schedule comes out. Cause I aint gonna miss that show.
yea, i guess you're right. didn't see that, my bad. just realized they are playing here the night before Bonnaroo. But, i'll be on my way to bonnaroo by then.
Yeah they have a lot of equipment and stuff to haul, doesnt seem practical for them on Fri Sat or Sunday. Im leaving earlier than I have in the past just so I can get there early Thursday.

if you like Clutch you should be hoping that they will be on Thursday. if they are any of the other days, they most definately will get a mid-day tent slot. But if they are on Thursday, they will still be in a tent, but like I posted above, it will be a night time show, and they may get more time too. Plus on Thursday you are bound to have less conflicts as well.
thursday last year was a great surprise to me. i went to check out the woods brothers and saw some guy climb up the side of the stage then climb across and drop into the middle of the crowd. but it was a good set and im def going to try to catch the annuals and tea leaf green this year.
I will not miss the Annuals show. Followed closely by The Black Angels. I hope I can catch Tea Leaf Green too. I don't have to worry about The National now, cause they'll be opening for The Arcade Fire when I see them. HUZZAH for less conflicts.

Clutch is definitely my #1 for thursday! I sooo hope they get the night show slot that Toubab Krewe had last year. That would be a GREAAT start for me!

just bought the Annuals album..... and holy shit....I know where I will be Thursday. They are the MUST SEE for Thursday night. Wow, I definitely think this thursday lineup is far more impressive than previous Thursdays and will be an official day for me (the national, tea leaf green, Elvis Perkins in Dearland, etc....)

Rodrigo y gabriela The Black Angels Tea Leaf Green
3 acts I have been really stoked to see, hopefully no conflicts with these three, but i am also looking forward to finding a good band to kick off my first night that I have never heard (ALO in 05 I had never heard of and I really dug their show, and really dug Matt Costa last year). Really really stoked for The Black Angels, caught them this past friday in Detroit with Vietnam and it was awesome despite a few lighting difficulties. These guys rock, I would highly recommend seeing htem if you werent planning on it ,if you have open spaces in your thursday. You wont regret it

I am absolutely psyched about Thursday! Since this will be my first Roo, I plan on getting there Thursday morning so that I can walk around all day Thursday and check out all of the cool places, people, and things about the festival. On the first day, I am planning on looking like a little 'rock tourist', walking around all day, taking pictures of the place and exciting people. But then that night......bring on THE BLACK ANGELS!!!! I am looking forward to seeing this band almost as much as the mainstage performers on the following 3 days. Out of every band that is playing at Bonnaroo, I have been listening to The Black Angels more then anyone since the lineup was announced. And I really hope that Clutch doesn't play at the same time as the Black Angels. I've seen Clutch once, and they really put on an energetic, rowdy show. Just getting to see two kick ass bands like Clutch and the Black Angels on Thursday makes that an awesome, full day to me! ;D ......And I am also excited about Thursday night, because that will be the best night to meet people and get laid (before we are all smelly and funky)!!!! Oh wait.....that's another thread already posted with 27 pages.....I'll head over there with this topic....
If you have someone going with you that doesn't wanna see anyone that day, have them drive, drop you off in traffic and let you all run to the shows to see. Cuzz we all know how the bonnaroo traffic is Thursday.
I've just started to listen to The Black Angels' 'Passover'... great CD. Hoping they don't play same time as Annuals as those 2 are my must sees for Thursday.
