Wait... By shenandoah, is it the same as the "oh, shenandoah, I love your daughter. Away, you rolling river?" is it the same song? If so I love that old song, used to sing it in choir

That's the one. It's on his album '1000 Years of Music', which I highly recommend, even though it's made up entirely of covers.
Let's see, if you get the "O Brother Where Art Thou" soundtrack you will get some good Gillian Welch collaborations and some Ralph Stanley (and T-Bone Burnett was the producer and I think he played on some of the recordings). Ralph Stanley's "O Death" and "Man of Constant Sorrow" are classics even if you don't like bluegrass or mountain music.
Gillian Welch "Miss Ohio" - awesome song. The Nightwatchman's album (aka Tom Morello) "One Man Revolution" is coming out April 24th. Good stuff.

1.Dr.Dog (these guys are sweet, caught MMJ in the crowd at their show) - I would recommend listening to 'Easy Beat' but their new album 'We All Belong' is equally impressive
2.The Black Angels (great band for anyone who enjoys a kind of Jim Morrison meets the Velvet Underground kinda sound, psychedelic rock for sure) - Passover is their only album and i would recommend it, but give it a few listens until you pass judgment, it is sometimes hard to grasp for some people I have introduced them to. Really excited to see these guys, Thursday will be fun for sure...

John Butler Trio - absolutely anything of thiers is great - although the new CD Grand National is amazing imo! I had never heard of them before the Bonnaroo announcements and now I am hooked

Get sts9's show in vegas I think 10-29-06 maybe 10-28. It's one of my all time faves, a good place to start
after you check that one out, here's a link to the first of three shows on their NYE run 05, and apparently the best. My first exposure to sts9, and the rest, as they say, is history. enjoi
Rodrigo Y Gabriela do a lot of acoustic covers of metal classics(ie Metallica, Zepellin) and some great originals. I'd check out UTube for a selection of them. It helps to SEE them in action.

I second this one....just picked up the CD Tuesday.....it hasn't been out of my player yet. And the CD comes with a free concert DVD....absolutely incredible. Can't wait to see them in person!!!!!
