one of my favorite things about bonnaroo is how much time bands get to play...with that in mind, it always seems most bands like to pull out a couple covers or even several. i know i'm not the only one who likes a good cover song at bonnaroo...
i was hoping to get a thread going on covers that bands are known to play, just to help some people decide whether or not to check someone out...
at bonnaroo 2005 it seems like there were a lot of grateful dead and beatles covers...

last year at roo my fav cover was the gambler by mike doughty. this eyar i excpect some sweet ass covers. i thik the black keys will pull out a cover or two along with the white stripes. hopefully damien rice will give us one of his famous covers as well!
Ben Harper Covers "Sexual Healing" alot, and did so at Roo 2003
WSP has so many covers you could spend all day listing them, but they cover Talking Heads alot (Heaven, City of Dreams, Life During Wartime), as well as some other "classic" stuff

damien rice covers creep () by radiohead and hallelujah by leonard cohen every so often and he's done a ton of other covers but only once. he's also been having his cellist, vyvienne (sp?) long play a song every show and she covers yoshimi battles the pink robots pt 1 () by the flaming lips a lot and seven nation army by the white stripes sometimes, and come together but that may have only been once
I was born in the back seat of a Yellow Cab in a hospital loading zone and with the meter still running. I emerged needing a shave and shouted 'Time Square, and step on it!
Richard Thompson can cover about anything. He's done some great Britney Spears covers, so don't be surprised if you hear him whip out a playful rendition of "Baby, Hit Me One More Time"
Starbucks is now carrying a covers disc with some Roo artists including the Lips and Damien Rice (doing Creep). I forget who else is on it but I'll pick it up when I get paid Wednesday.
As for this year's group, the only one that immediately comes to mind that has yet to be mentioned is Xavier Rudd's version of "No Woman No Cry".
Some fave's from previous Roo's:
Will Hoge - "Midnight Rider" My Morning Jacket - "Never Take the Place of Your Man" Dresden Dolls - "War Pigs" Dave Matthews and Friends - "Solisbury Hill" Blue Merle - "Psycho Killer"
One of the Thursday artists in '05 had a killer version of "Bulls on Parade" but I can't remember who it is at the moment. Anybody?

Mule also does floyd covers (often)
but,
I want to hear dancing in the moonlight!!!!!! MJ did it at the Prom shows in Atlanta...(really great show) Thought Dancing in the mooonlight would be a perfect song for the night air!
We should start a thread, were everyone gets three choices of cover songs. If they get played at roo...they get a point! something---- maybe one probable cover choice, one off the wall choice.... i dunno.. i'm bored!
I think I heard or read somewhere that the Flaming Lips did a cover of Seven Nation Army...that would be cool. Any confirmation from FL fans out there? I'm not that familiar...yet!
