Interesting, Fiction Plane, Favourite Sons, The Whigs, and Dubconscious are all playing the cafes.
I think this and the interview will be all we're getting today considering I'm sure they update the lineup page and reveal it all at once. Maybe we'll get an addition next week.
Listening to the Whigs' record now. Really good stuff. Will definitely catch them in the cafe. These are bigger cafe acts than there's been in yrs past. A few that come to mind are the Biscuit Burners, a great bluegrass group from Asheville NC, and Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter, who has been around awhile.
Are we counting Cafe Artists in the total of, what was it, 120 or so bands? If so, this puts it right around 120. I know that Pete Yorn is unannounced, but we are pushing it if they count.

Alex Ray Joel - that's Billy's daughter in case anyone didn't know. Heard a few good things about her new album, but only actually listened to 1 track; very Norah Jones-ish, IMHO.

Yea, I was reading her bio . . . being Billy Joel's daughter is good, and she's really hot . . . but being "the first independent artist ever to have exclusive EP distribution through Target" is an odd choice.

Yea, looking at the schedule at this point, I'd be surprised if we received more than one more round of additions. I've gotta believe we have one more hip hop act coming, Pete Yorn, Grace Potter, and potentially one more indie act.

answer is yes, they do count. By My count there are 116 bands. That leaves the door open for 1 or 2 more rounds of additions.

It qualifies as a fairly nice relief that Fiction Plane is not a stage act.
agreed. the entire cafe artist list is actually a fairly nice relief, considering we knew some of these in advance. I hope this leaves the door open for a nice big round of "surprise" additions.

i'm almost possitive they didn't count the cafe artists last yaer when they said over 80 bands
well, they've announced that over 100 bands will play Roo 2007, and the only way to get to that number is to add in the cafe artists. If we do not add in those artists, that means we still have about 15-20 bands of "additions" to go, and I don't see that happenning with how this lineup is built and how the additions have been going. I'd say we get 5-10 more bands at the most.

yeah anything now is speculation till confirmed. i really hope thursday does start at 1, then i think we could reasnably have 100 bands plus cafe stages

there was like 5-6 artist additions last year. this year there's been only 3 including cafe acts and the first announcement only had 2 acts. I still believe they will pull something out of the bag before april is over. at least 10 more artists.

Some pretty good acts, none as good as Hot Buttered Rum, but i'd say theres more bigger names this year, rather then basically just that one last year.
I'm really stoked about the cafe artists. there are some bands that I've heard great things about, and this will probably be my only chance for a while to catch them. particularly: Manchester Orchestra Sam Champion and Bang Bang Bang
Some great stuff in here. I'm particularly happy for Dixie Dirt, a fabulous Knoxville band who I dubbed the reverse-Pixies (one guy, rest girls but just as talented and noisy) at 2005's Roo. I think it's very big of Fiction Plane to be in a cafe stage-- they could command a slot on a main, smaller tent but the lead singer is pretty hellbent on not taking handouts (on account of him being Sting's son); moreover, I actually like Fiction Plane's stuff. Some other great acts on that list... best Cafe Stage lineup in the last couplea years (and I LOVED seeing Bare Jr. last year).
