Well, I rarely start threads on here, but this is a topic near and dear to my heart. One of my favorite acts from last year was Sonic Youth. I always enjoyed their music in my younger year, but it wasn't the tunes that had the effect on me. During the set while sitting in the crowd I became insanely nostalgic. Not just sitting and reminiscing, but more like the feeling you get when you smell something you were fond of from your childhood and it throws your mind into a tailspin. Just hearing Thurstons tone drove me crazy, and made me realize how long it had been since I saw one of the bands I grew up listening to.
Which leads me to my topic. I'm not big on posting speculative threads, so I don't. This is an exception to me though.
The Meat Puppets will be releasing their first disc in 7 years this coming June entitled "Rise To Your Knees". They just announced a handful of west coast shows with promises of a US tour. Considering Chris has now put his personal problems behind him, I think its entirely possible you'll see a full blown tour develop out of this. They're also in the huge clump of bands waiting to release tour dates while we wait for artist additions.
I think they'd fit in perfectly. Meat Puppets at Bonnaroo anyone?
I was born in the back seat of a Yellow Cab in a hospital loading zone and with the meter still running. I emerged needing a shave and shouted 'Time Square, and step on it!

Meat puppets were my first concert ever (Soul Asylum wasd the headliner, but I was there for the Puppets). I remember very little of the show, and have not been able to catch them since. I think they would be a great addition to Roo. Gimmie more cowpunk anyday.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it

meat puppets were my first real concert too. it was jawbox, meat puppets, and stone temple pilots. not a bad show actually but it was a long time ago. i was like 14 or something.
Used to love them. Actually, I think that I saw them open for Nirvana. Pretty sure it was them and the Boredoms. Saw 'em open for somebody and liked 'em. Blind Melon? Damn college brain. Anyways, I'd be on board.
