perhaps the addition of these vids means addition of other things today? (like artists!) lol probably not, i wont get my hopes up.... but, does anyone know what time they usually post artist additions? noon? also, has anyone watched those bob weir vids? i cant see them...
i watched them this morning. there were 2 five or six minute clips. nothing terribly exciting. one thing i noted is that they asked Bobby how a show like Bonnaroo is different from a typical ratdog show. Bobby's response was that the songs will be about 20% shorter, because there are less people familiar with their stuff. WTF??
side note: saw ratdog in greensboro last weekend. the show was really mello, but very well played. looking forward to a more rockin' set at roo!

Yeah....I would think the opposite... Bob Weir said they wont experiment as much, and play more radio friendly stuff to capture the new audience.....ahhhh I'm guessing those who choose to go to RATDOG, choose to go because they know the music. Really kind of sad to hear.......I' usually skip Ratdog considering all the tapers will be there, and I've heard I know your rider too many damn times (ok..not to many..haha)
Schedule conflict is a bitch...I think Bob weir would want to treat those listening to his set with something special..... Can I smite bob weir!!!!?????
mine will only play halfway through each. but i got the jist of it. and ya thats bob weir thinking like an accountant and not a musician. does he really think that people who dont know what hes about are going to show up at his show at roo?? they will be at a different show. always worried about new customers. just play music bobby!!!! quit worrying about adding some more zeros to your bank account!!!! and buys some shorts that fit!!!!!
i love bobby. cant wait to see him 3 or 4 times this summer. but i wish he wouldnt talk so much. its hard to feel bad for a millionaire that whines about how he dosent have enough millions from doing somethign he loves. id be happy to make 30,000 a year doing what he does. doing somethign you truly love and making a living at it should be reward enough. hes the only one that dosent get it.
a fesitval is meant for killer experimental shows. not some dulled down bs you think will get new fans to buy your stuff. and as for the ratdog archives, i cant wait!!! i always feel just a little bit better about illegally downloading something if bob weir is involved!
and im also still holding a grudge about closing down the road to our camp at the vibes for 10 minutes during a violent thunderstorm that canceled the latenight show so that bob weirs million dollar bus could navigate its way out easier! wtf!!! chill in your masion on wheels and let the people who paid for that bus get back to the safety and comfort of their camp!!!!!!!!!! when it comes to the dead bobby seems kinda like those tests back in school, one of these things dosent belong?
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
I will admit Bobby is the one worried about the money, BUT,if you have got all the facts you would know he is doing it to save whats left of Grateful Dead Productions and their XX amount of employees,(Bobby has plenty of money, he aint hurtin),GDP is almost bankrupt from what Ive heard, having to get rid of long time friends and employees. This is a corporation that was funded off the Grateful Dead and their 800 million dollar 90s tours, they have no other bands signed other than when the Dead toured in 03 and 04, but all they have left now is whats in the vault and they are tryin to keep GDP afloat with that, I myself dont think that hear 10 years later they should still be banking on the SBDs in the vault whats left of the Grateful Dead. This is why Bobby and Phil dont get along. Beisides that Bobby is a great person and musician, and every Ratdogshow I have ever been to was great. Heres the setlist from the show I went to last week probably the best Ratdog show I have ever been to. Now if you want to talk about money hungry musicians and great musicians who are assholess, we could start a big list. But I think well see a killer show for the 2hr that he is given at Roo, he usually plays 3/12 to 4 hr normally.
Promised Land > Greatest Story Ever Told > The Last Time > Bury Me Standing > Fly Away Loser Take Me To The River Stagolee > (not Stagger Lee) New Speedway Boogie Playin' In The Band Big Iron (Acoustic) Don't Worry (Acoustic) When I Paint My Masterpiece (Acoustic) Quinn The Eskimo (The Mighty Quinn) > Althea Scarlet Begonias Drums/Jam Black Muddy River Playin' In The Band (reprise) Goin' Down The Road Feelin' Bad Encore: Revolution
Well seeing as how the Grateful Dead doesn't exist anymore, and "The Dead" doesn't even exist, why does GDP still need to exist? Perhaps there's a good answer to that, but I can't think of it. Certainly if you've got employees that have been with you for decades you don't want to just drop them... but what do they *do* now, besides periodically releasing a Dick's Pick's CD?
I've only seen Ratdog once, at the Vibes last year. I have to say I was underwhelmed. It wasn't a bad show, but it wasn't particularly good either. It seemed like in place of good jams they just turned the volume up obscenely loud. If Ratdog comes around here I'd probably go see them... I'll only see them at Bonnaroo if they don't conflict with something else (not likely). I dunno, maybe I just got a bad impression from the one show I saw.
On the other hand, every Phil & Friends show I've seen has been excellent. Especially Phil & Trey, that one is definitely in my top few shows ever.
ya phil is better. i just like him better. but he also seems to have more talent with him. its hard to beat trey and scofield. i was also at the vibes show. i enjoyed it. but it didnt blo me away either. maybe the weather had something to do with it. i also got the impression that they shut ratdog down early to try to get everyone orchestra out for a bit. whihc didnt work out well. so that might not be the best show to judge them on. and a roo daytime set probably isnt either. but all good, 10klf, and this years vibes should be great shows. im looking forward to all of them. i wish i was getting some phil though. as for gdp i can understand wanting to keep your friends employed. why dont they do soemthing new? what band wouldnt want to be on a gd label. get something going to keep these people employed. dont take something that was intended to be for everyones enjoyment, given to the fans by the artists, and turn it into a profit machine. or better yet play as the dead. if that was the case everyone would be making money and have job security. and if gdp is bobbys motivation for what hes done it would be a non issue if they were touring as the dead. and the beef between him and phil over all of this would have enver happened.

i hear that!!!! there is something to be said for being og's. but if your looking ofr the energetic show like the old dead shows dso gets it done. some people just cant see past the tribute/cover band part of it. but dso is the nuts. im so excited for gratefulfest. 4 more nights of dark star!! woo hoo!!!! and all good too. im kinda surprised to see them and ratdog on the same lineup. maybe a sit in??? i doubt it. but i can hope. ive enver heard bobbys take on dso. i know most of them are supportive of dso. i suspect constanten will be jamming with dso at gratefulfest. donna jean too. i dont know why they get no roo love. other then the real deal is there. and they do a festival where they headline 4 nights shortly after roo.

Ya know I still haven't seen DSO, have been wanting to for a while. Hopefully I'll get to All Good early enough to catch them.
And maybe they don't get asked to Bonnaroo because there's usually one or more members of the Dead there? Just a thought. Also I'm not sure when they'd go on... would probably have to be latenight, 90 minutes just doesn't seem long enough for a "Grateful Dead" show.
What are the chances of Ratdog playing 'Tennesse Jed' at Bonnaroo? I'd love to catch it, kind of Bonnaroo's official anthem. Ain't no place I'd rather beeeeeeeeeee!

I would imagine there is a good chance but then again I was 100% positive Phil would play it last year but he didn't so who knows.
