So as I sit here listening to one of his CDs I am just thinking how excited I am to see him!!!! I am a country girl at heart and while I am excited for many of these bands and looking forward to hearing a lot of new bands I cannot help but think about how awesome it will be to see him in concert. Any other Dierk fans out there????

I haven't really liked what little of his music i've heard but, a friend of ours likes him. So it looks like we'll be stopping by that (or wichever) tent this year. I may even walk away a fan. Weirder things have happened. I left Bonnaroo, in '04, really digging YMSB....something that I never thought would hapen. That's what's great about Roo! If you do it right, with an open mind and a willingness to broaden your horizons, you will ALWAYS discover good new music!

I don't know too much about him, but I did read an article where he talked about how excited he was to be playing at Bonnaroo. Not just the standard run-of-the-mill "excited", but like he has been before and knows a lot about it. That kind of attitude usually results in a great Roo showing. Could be a good set.

If AC/Superfly set out with a plan to add a representative of the Big Nashville scene to the lineup, they could have donw alot worse than Dierks Bentley. While I'm not a big fan of any of his songs I can say that he puts alot into his live shows (I caught some of his set at last year's Summerfest after leaving NIN). He is far from the typical stand-there-in-tight-jeans-and-cowboy-hat mainstream country performer. He puts on a very energetic performance without all the cliches of a george Strait or Tim McGraw.
And, in one other big plus that differentiates him from so much of the cookie-cutter Nashville establishment, he actually writes alot of his own music.
This artist made we go "WTF?" when I first saw him on the bill, but I do have to say a couple things that have occurred to me since:
1. Live country is better than what you hear on the radio. It's not even close. I learned that quickly after moving to Nashville and being exposed to the live music here. And I loathe radio-country. 2. Girls like country music. Especially hot ones. So if you're looking for some at Bonnaroo, this wouldn't be a bad place to start.
There'll more than likely be another artist that I'd rather see, but if not I might just swing by Dierks' tent and catch a couple songs.
"This artist made we go "WTF?" when I first saw him on the bill," My initial reaction exactly. After thinking about it though, I kinda came to the same conclusion as you did. Live country can be a real good time. If there's no one else playing while he is that I'm hell-bent on seeing, i would definitely drop by, definitely one of the beauties at Roo. I would never pay 40 bucks or so to see Dierks, but meandering over after a few cocktails is something i look forward to. Mobileroo- do you happen to know where you found that article that you mentioned?

^^^Nah. I wish I did. I feel like someone posted it on here, but couldn't find when I looked through the old threads. If I find it, I'll be sure to post it.

I'm actually pretty impressed by that YouTube performance. I might check him out, like everyone else said, if he doesn't conflict with anything else that I'm dying to see.

Never heard a song from ol' Dierks. But I have heard nothing but good things about this guy's enthusiasm for Roo. And something about him turning down the CMT Music Festival (where he would obviously have supporters), in favor of playing to a new crowd at Bonnaroo. That's pretty kickass...though I still doubt I'll see the set.
I've seen him twice, he puts on a good show.......Awesome guy personally, met him once. Both shows I saw, the women loved him...I'll check him out again.

Well, i'll be skipping his set. Thanks to the youtube vid. I don't really care for his style of music. Plus, I know I can find someone to watch instead at the time he's on.
