Hi, Im a first time roo'er coming from the UK and have read lots of mentions about special late nights set, superjams, masquerade balls and the like. Can anyone give me an idea of when the how late the party goes on til and anything about the other above mentioned events.
The late night sets can go on all night. It's kind of left to the discretion of the band. In early years when it was mainly jambands, you'd still hear music at 6am. Normally late sets are over around 3-4am.
There's a post all about the Masquerade Ball on here somewhere. Look around. It will answer most you're questions.

The party doesn't stop all weekend. Except in the mornings, at around 6 a.m. there isn't much going on in Centeroo. You can always find something to do though.

when the headliners are playing each night they are the only show going on and finish around midnight sometime. then the late night sets start around 1:00 and go until they wear themselves out.

Les is scheduled for a late night set at High Sierra. Wonder if it'll be the same at Bonnaroo. I know he isn't official yet, but most likely he will be as soon as they have an artist addition.
Late night is when the party really starts. During the day everyone is chilling and watching shows, looking for shade, staying hydrated. Once the sun goes down things get crazy. Besides the latenight sets (which will often go 'till sunrise), there's things like the sonic forest, the art of such & such, the parade, etc, which really come alive at night.
So the moral of the story is during the day try to catch the shows you want to see, but pace yourself and take your time... you'll need your energy for later.
to me bonnaroo is the latenight sets, don't make the rookie mistake of going too crazy during the day and being toast come latenight. I just see as much music as possible during the day, and then go nuts latenight.
as for the superjam, traditionally it's been on the main stage before the headliners on Sunday, last year they had it as one of the latenight sets after radiohead. as for the line-up it's supposed to be a mystery until show time, though last year it leaked that it would be G.R.A.B.
A simple chair and some shade at your favorite set at the time is the key. Add plenty of water and you will be good and ready for the late night madness!!

The Superjam has never been on the mainstage. Always in a tent, on Sunday prehealiner. Last year was the only time it has switched time slots, and it was still in a tent.

As many of my friends will tell you, I firmly believe that Bonnaroo is almost entirely about the late-night action! Even If you don't see more than 1 show, the weather and all-around vibe make it unforgetably unparalleled!
Sleeep as late as possible, pace yourself, take several Centeroo naps and.....well, whatever it takes for you to stay awake. IT IS BEYOND WORTH IT! Trust me, You will thank yourself!

drink water all day long.. dont start with the alcohol until the sun goes down.... I usually get to bed around 6 am and sleep until 11:00 am if possible. (u cant stay in your tent past 9am b/c of the heat... sleep outside under a canopy!) Eat breakfast and head out to Centeroo.... if you're tired you can nap while laying outside of a music tent.... it is best to chill here... you can still enjoy the live music this way!
All 3 tents had late night acts last year on fri and sat. The biggest of the tents hosted the band that got its own late night slot, mmj, and grab midnight to 4 or 5. The two smaller tents had between 2 and 4 acts after the headliner Ump and Bisco, and Common Blackalicous ect. Just know your roo tolerence, drink water, eat healthy, have fun

As far as I can tell, This Tent and That Tent are the same size, yet my understanding is that This Tent is considered the primary one-- I guess that's partly because of it's name, and also because it is listed first in the schedules.
