they took down dave mathews set after their show and the stage was ready the next day... they also had to change the stage for radiohead and primus.... that won't be a problem. They just set it up and all the bands play with it for the entire day....

We had discussed the UFO a little bit ago. I have some major doubts about that being able to fit on a tent stage. I'd love to see it as they didnt do it at either NYC dates last year, but would still rather see them play in a tent late-night.

In fact this very well might be the biggest crowd they've had in a long time... possibly ever? So perhaps they will have some special stage gimmick. Remember, they unveiled the giant bubble at Coachella.
Once again, as of right now, I'm pretty confident when I say there's a good chance that The Flaming Lips will secure the Which Stage Saturday Late Night Spot. They would be perfect for it, and then they could setup all there stuff including the UFO. Think about it, Primus did it in 04. Trey in 05.
"Disobedience, in the eyes of anyone who has read history, is man's original virtue. It is through disobedience and rebellion that progress has been made." Oscar Wilde (1854 - 1900), The Soul of Man Under Socialism
"You're either on the bus or off the bus." Ken Kesey
"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." Hunter S. Thompson
I would rather they not try to do a huuge production. It cuts in to their playing time. I was at Coachella when they first did the bubble. They spent most of their time trying to get it ready, then played 4 songs, and had to get out for the Cure.

Well, thats because Coachella sucks and has a curfew. Half the fun of a FLips show is the ball, the confetti, the lights, the balloons, etc.
They are nowhere near being the most talented band I've seen play, but everything else that they do makes up for it tenfold.
At the last NYC show we got a few folks around us to help trap Wayne when he came around. Being the cool guy that he is he just started joking with us and high-fiving us through the ball. After almost 5 minutes he just asked us kindly to let him back on stage and told us to enjoy the show. Great guy.
Like many others I just have 2 wishes for the FLips @ roo. 1) Late Night 2) No Main Stage!!!!!
