I know that OCMS calls Nashville home, but are there any other bands local to the Nashville area that you'd like to see? I think it'd be awesome if Roo got some more Nashville talent, since it is music city.
My votes are for: Forget Cassettes The Ascent of Everest and The Features.
I can think of quite a few Memphis bands (besides Lucero of course) who would fit in: Yamagata, Freeworld, Minivan Blues Band, Kat Maxwell, Mouserocket, Secret Service, Bloodthirsty Lovers, etc. Hey, get Lily Afshar to play the Solar Stage; she plays classical guitar and doesn't need electricity!
It has been a few years, but I saw them open up for KOL in Chicago and they tore the stage up. There's no doubt in my mind that they'd go over splendidly at Roo. I listened to ExhibitA for the first time in well over a year a few weeks back and it sounded as fresh as the first time.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
the Slip is a local band i think...my brother was telling me last night that everyone from the band were born or group up on The Farm ( i guess its a commune sort of in Tenn, sustainable farming and such) he said he saw them play their first show ever there, he loved it, although he's gonna be mighty upset when he hear's their new Indie Rock stuff (he's expecting it to be more jammy)
Not a local band, but another cool band for one of the Cafe Stages would be Green Light (based out of Charlotte). I've seen them live and they're great.

Yeah, The Slip were born in Providence then moved when they were young (2 of the 3 are brothers) to the Boston area. the 3 of them are Berklee dropouts and started out in the local Boston music scene. They now live separately in Boston, Providence, and Monteal. No doubt they are New England guys.
