Both of these bands get pretty high billing on the initial announcement, and rightfully so. My question is this:
Do you think Superfly would actually put these two bands against each other in the preheadliner slot, on different stages?
I for one really hope not, as I was planning on seeing both. They both seem to be of the hipster "indie" appeal, and I doubt they will put them on at the same time, but I guess it could happen.
Ideally I would love to see the main stage for the day, go something like this:
Wolfmother
The Decemberists
The White Stripes
Wilco (have them after the Stripes, because they usually play longer sets than them)
Widespread Panic (or TOOL)
This is also assuming that Panic is the Sunday headliner. The type of bands playing this day lead me to believe we have a shot at TOOL closing the fest though.
So, after that whole rant, do you think they would put these two bands up against each other?

That's too many acts - they usually have 4 acts on the main stage (incl. headliners) on Sat and Sunday, and usually 3 on Friday...
Ok you are right. Well this way then we can have our full day of W bands then ;D
Wolfmother (1:00-2:00) The White Stripes (3:00-4:30) Wilco (5:30-7:30) Widespread Panic (8:30-12:00)
I would be fine with that ^^^^, and it actually seems somewhat feasible. The Decemberists are the only other band right now scheduled for Sunday that I really want to check out, so I would just head over there way in the middle of some of the above sets.
Yeah, that's definately going to suck as far as choices goes. I'd love to go see Wilco cause I've already seen the Stripes but, the Stripes new album has been described as what seems like pretty bad ass. I read in NME online that there's a song with horns that sounds Spanish. I can see Wilco almost anytime since I live in Chicago and all my friends will be at the Stripes, so most likely if this happens, as will I.
Wilco is infinitely better than the White Stripes. Even if Meg White could drum I still would see 2 seconds of Wilco over an entire set of The White Stripes.
There's no way that they will try to squeeze Wilco on the Which Stage. They had them on the What Stage in 04 and the place was totally packed. That crowd would have never fit on Which and besides I feel like they've gained a little more momentum since then too. And also, The White Stripes will definitely be on the What Stage. So I'm willing to bet unless their gonna play different days they will not be playing at the same time.

I'm with you on that one, but ill add in "even if meg could drum and jack could sing"

I think that Wilco could play the Which Stage if they had the White Stripes on the What Stage, and Superjam came back to Sunday (which doesn't seem unlikely since Govt Mule is playing Saturday latenight). It would definately split the crowd quite a bit. The only other thing would be Wilco from 3:30-5ish, then Stripes from 5:30-7:30 or vice versa on the What Stage
I was looking forward to seeing wilco before I heard their new album. Now I'm not so sure, if it were down to wilco and white stripes, I might have to pick the stripes. Yes, the new album is that bad.
Well, considering Jeff Tweedy is one of my idols. I would most likely pick Wilco over just about ANY band playing that weekend. Sorry, it's sad but true. Lets just hope it doesn't come down to Wilco vs. somebody bad ass like the White Stripes because I have alot of friends going to Roo who feel the same.

i was gonna say the exact same thing. Jeff Tweedy is a God! only band i wouldnt miss for Wilco would be Radiohead.
i am starting to wonder how many conflicts i will have because i love this lineup so far, and have a feeling that the second lot is going to be crazy
