I have spent the last couple of nights looking up some of the bands I was not familiar with that are appearing this summer. I was very happy to be able to find quality live videos of some of these bands and am quickly becoming excited about discovering new artists this summer. This being my 5th roo, you quickly discover that the smaller acts are what the festival is all about. The big names acts are always going to be smoking but the heart and soul of bonnaroo are the little guys trying to make a name for their selves. So here it goes. I am sure many of you are very familiar with these bands but not being a fan of either I was very excited after viewing both of these videos. I have added both Tortoise and STS9 to my wish list of must sees.

Subtle. They arent there, yet, but i saw them last night and i think itd be awesome to see them added. I love that they set up and tear down their own stuff. I saw them play with TVOTR last night and they tore down all their own stuff then too.
Great thread. Nice link to the Tortoise show. It got me excited to see them again. And FWIW, here is another Tortoise link just in case someone does not want to watch the 30:00 minute version.
Glastonbury - Wbich makes me believe that they will be playing during the day, likely a preheadliner spot. (It also seems like Wayne's voice is shot in this one, which is a bummer, but the quality of the recording is great.)
Okay everyone we are off to a good start. Make sure you watch the John Butler video posted above. It is a great instrumental! So I want to post another instrumental for your enjoyment. The great Junior Brown is at the top of my list of must see artists this year. If you do not know anything about him you are in for a treat.
this guy is a great guitar player, check him out- andy mckee. i saw this video and ordered the album immeadiately after. great style, beautiful composition. fingerstyle acoustic is really cool, i recommend getting into it if you have yet to discover it. lots of great unknown artists out there that are golden
So, I watched about the first 6 minutes of that DJ Shadow video, and I'm thinking Where's the Beat??
Maybe it's not the "beat" you are used to. But at 1:28 in the video a beat drops, and it is then built upon throughout the song. This would be how a lot of Shadows songs are put together, they start small and grow throughout the song. This shit is awesome!

Good call. I just saw them with TV too and have started to get into them. Theyd be a nice addition
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.

Who else is excited about SCI? Who else besides me wants their set to kick off about 12:30 on Saturday night? It could be magical! Here is something to wet your appetite.
