I would definitely be shocked if The Roots didn't play late night. SCI is also definitely a likely candidate, as is Galactic, although, since they're confirmed for Saturday, that would mean they would be up against Gov't Mule, which seems a bit odd to me, as, in my experience, they have a pretty similar Bonnaroo fanbase, but I could be wrong.
The Lips are really the only ones suggested who have about a 50/50 chance. My money's on them leading into Tool, but that's just me.
With Galactic's new album having a more hip-hop feel to it,
What new album? Their latest album was Ruckus is 2003, I wouldn't really call that new material. Do you have any new information about a new album coming out? Don't get me wrong, Galactic is a very talented group of musicians, but they lack something since the loss of the "Houseman" but they are always a fun and entertaining show.

Either way, I really think you see the Roots late night. I heard rumors out of the OKP camp that the Roots were calling around, rounding up a bunch of guest artists for some "big show" this summer (the exact show was unspecified), and those contacted included Kweli, Ghostface, Big Daddy Kane, Scratch, and an as-yet-unspecified string section. It could just be that the Roots are planning on a big show of their own (perhaps akin to their Radio City stand a year ago), but I'm hopefully wishing it's for a late night Bonnaroo set.

The college was playing Sigur Ros over the PA before Saul Williams' spoken word show there a couple weeks back. I couldnt stop thinking how perfect it would be for Roo.
I'm thinking that TOOL is going to have a late night set. In their shows they love to put on light/laser shows and with the sun going down way past 8pm EST during the summer time here in the south I just don't see them getting anything earlier than 10pm.

I don't think Tool will be late night whatsoever... we already have enough non-headlining acts that could be late night. why have one of the 3 headliners take the late night?

I'll take it!
If this happens at 'roo, Roots will be #1 on my must-see list. Hands down.

I talked to Jason Hann at an EOTO show a couple days ago, he says that cheese is playing for sure late night friday either from 12-2 or 2-4. Can you say Cheese/Sound Tribe late night!!!
