i try to guess the schedule every year, it helps make the waiting easier, and it adds to the excitement, but i feel pretty confident about a rough draft i came up with, some of the bands have been confirmed already for that day, the others have not, its just what i speculate, here's what i came up with, there are still a lot of bare spots i can't figure out:

so the conflicts, i'm thinking, that we might or could see based on my list above would be: string cheese vs. the roots or manu chao, the fan bases aren't similar, the size of the crowds may be similar, it makes sense to me, you have the hippy crowd for cheese, and the hipster crowd for the roots
ben harper vs. ween and/or flaming lips, i think at past festivals these three always seem to be put up against each other, i know at acl last year ben was up against the lips, so i think it may happen
white stripes vs. damien rice or wilco, i think wilco could definitely go up against someone like the white stripes, wilco is a lot bigger than damien rice, and the white stripes are pretty big themselves, but damien rice has gotten bigger since his last roo, he may getting a promotion by playing the which stage this year, mid to late in the day, i'd like to see it

why wouldnt that be spreading the crowd? Those would be huge conflicts for me. I would want to catch whole sets of those bands.
That would be spreading the crowd. What i was saying is they try not to put bands with similar fanbases against each other.
You usually see the five stages with something like this going on:
Pop Jamband Indie Rap Reggae
They put different types of acts on all the stages to spread the crowd out. They don't generally put two jamband acts, or indie acts against each other, although it does happen sometimes, but not usually.
I would put my ticket on a bet that Wilco will no way in hell play the same time slot as the White Stripes.
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!
Ooh this makes me so excited! But I will be really upset if The Police and The Flaming Lips are up against each other.
And I don't know what I am going to do if, for example, using the OP's prediction, I wanted to see Kings of Leon at Which Stage but then The Police at What Stage, because I wouldn't get a good spot at The Police!! Ahhh so much music, so little time!
When does the complete official schedule come out?

^^^Don't worry about that Police/Lips scenario. The Police will be playing alone - no conflicts while the headliners are playing. Same will hold true for Tool and Panic.
I'm sure you'll find plenty of other mind-boggling conflicts though.
thats ok though, they own the late night ;D
