Matchup #1 Tool Matchup#2 The Roots (Supergroups are only super when they write good songs) Matchup#3 DJ Shadow (Apologies to SCI, Shadow is sort of THE dj) Matchup#4 Gillian Welch (I like JAMC but they qualify as the overrated hipster revisionist band of choice at the moment, and Gillian's solid) Matchup#5 Regina Spector (I continue to not get the Decemberists hype) Matchup#6 The Rapture (Seen them both live, and with all due respect to Ben Harper, the Rapture are amazingly entertaining live and far less self-conscious) Matchup#7 Ween Matchup#8 STS9 (Upset of the region)

1.Tool 9. The Roots 5. The String Cheese Incident 4. The Jesus and Mary Chain 6. The Decemberists 3. Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals 7. Ween 2. Red Hot Chili Peppers
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
4. The Jesus and Mary Chain (30 votes) beats 13. Gillian Welch (18 votes)
6. The Decemberists (38 votes) beats 11. Regina Spector(12 votes)
3. Ben Harper (42 votes) beats 14. The Rapture (8 votes)
7. Ween (36 votes) beats 10. Kings Of Leon (14 votes)
2. Red Hot Chili Peppers (31 votes) beats 15. STS9 (19 votes)
Recap: Everything went as planned once again though DJ Shadow gets close but doesn't quite pull it off. People wonder why DJ Shadow, along with other artist, is in the 1st round twice and that is because DJ Shadow is on the top 32 billing of both festivals. I am expecting the next two regions to be the best.

Matchup#1 1. Bjork
Matchup #2 8. Ziggy Marley
Matchup#3 12. The Black Keys
Matchup#4 13. Peeping Tom
Matchup#5 6. Bob Weir and Ratdog
Matchup#6 14. Sasha & John Digweed
Matchup#7 10. Michael Franti & Spearhead
Matchu#8 2. Widespread Panic
Couple tough calls in this one..Ratdog vs. Roots especially. Had that been just about any other band against WSP I probably would have voted for them instead.
