So I was poking around on iTunes last night, and I came across the song "Today is the Day" by Apollo Sunshine. Check it out if you get a chance. Since we've got them pegged as a Thursday act, I hope they kick off the entire weekend with this song.
My first Roo was in '05, and the first music I heard was ALO playing "Barbeque", but they replaced the lyrics to say "Welcome to your Bonnaroo." It was a lot of fun and set the tone for the whole weekend...for me anyway.
I am actually fairly excited about these guys. I really wanted to check them out at an ACL aftershow with the Duo, but was too low on funds. Thursday night seems perfect to me.
my old band played with these guys about 5 years ago.
they were just starting up and we played with them in a basement in reading, pa. weird show, as we were a grind/metal band these guys are indie, but yaeh, awesome guys to hang out with totally down to earth.
check out the song "i was on the moon" its the only one that i still remember, it was on there demo 5 years ago, but im pretty sure they re-recorded it on a full length
Today Is The Day is the first song I heard by them too. I also like "I Was On The Moon" - Have those two and a few other tracks posted up here: www.jiglet.net/b/2007-apollo_sunshine.php
Apollo Sunshine is probably one of my favorite bands. They are a local band from around here in Boston and theyve built up a pretty big reputation. They recently started gaining popularity when they did a small tour with The Slip. interesting fact - They won 2006 Bostons Best Rock Band award. (along with The Slip winning Best Live Act.)
I've seen the apollo sunshine over a year ago a few times.... they put on a solid show with a realy edgy sound... they've been hitting the rode for the past year or so and since there isnt a new album out this time im sure that they've really developed some chops. A year ago they were tight as hell, i can only imagine how their show wil sound come bonnaroo.
expect a few covers in their set : any thing from Stirr it up to Crosstown traffic to Remix to Ignistion
