We treat mishaps like sinking ships and I know that I don't want to be out to drift Well I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and They both tell me that we're better than this
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!
"No more Meg White comments" was what made me laugh. It's funny because she's not talented
True- but it's actually a joke of an even different color and funny for a second reason.
When NIN's drummer Jerome Dillon left in '95 in the middle of a world tour, there was a brief addition of a replacement that eventually led to Josh Freese finally becoming free and not just stepping in (as he often does for many bands, from Perfect Circle to School of Fish) but permanently joining Nine Inch Nails. But in the interim there was TONS of speculation about who the drummer for NIN would be. During a small break in tour dates Trent Reznor indicated the drummer had been chosen, but still nobody had a clue.
As was often the case while they were on tour, NIN.com updated with a new photo with no caption or explanation in the "current" section of the website:
And everyone went batshit crazy (as in, "you-have-got-to-be-kidding-me-she'll-pass-out-by-the-third-song") and rumors flew, seemingly substantiated by the joke. Mercifully, it was revealed eventually that Josh Freese would be the drummer.
Haha, I remember that picture. I was going to see NIN in Detroit the next night, so I was a little freaked out for a minute before I realized it had to be a joke. I saw them with their temporary drummer, who was some young unknown. I wish I could have seen them with Freese, he's really good on their new live DVD.
