ok so i am a huge tool fan and widespread panic fan and i wanna watch their entire sets relatively close. (like so i can see the musicians pretty well) how do i do this? does this involve me waiting at that stage for 4 hours or more? does this mean ill miss other bands in the meantime?

I think you can actually get a decent spot if you come a little early for the pre-headliner, then inch up as people clear out. You wont be right up front, but you'll be in the middle and able to see everything, and not have to miss a ton of shows.

^yeah. tool will be totally ill i plan on trying to get pretty close too but i'm nto gonna go crazy and try to get up front; too much good music i'd miss
oh seriously? thats not bad at all. so if the preheadliner played for 1 1/2 then i would only have to wait 4 hours at best and i will be watching the preheadliner. i would be happy being like near the middle front. i certainly dont need to be in the front row!

Depending on your vision too you can be pretty far back, and still see it all. Like i've sat back near the vendors, but was still able to see the stage fine, and sound was good. That said, you'd have a much better spot if you camped a little. Theres also a good chance the preheadliners someone you want to see, so it just works out perfect.
totally!^ do you think theres going to be alot of people waiting for tool? i know there will be some hardcore fans that are waiting all day. but does everybody rush to the headliner even if they arent big fans?

If they arent a fan they'll probably just amble in and be content chillin in the back where it isnt so packed. I think if you get there a few minutes early for the preheadliner you're guarenteed a satisfiable spot.

the sound quality is amazing form wherever you are. we listened to moe. form our camp in tent only last eyar and it sounded perfect. so you have to worry about the sound. the screens are big enough so that you can see it form wherever but its not the smae as seeing it all at once on the stage

Its actually been said on this site that tool was going to make a dvd out of the tour that got postponed. I think theres no way tool could get out of being up on the moniters though, if anything they may just make them not record it, but itd still be on the moniters.

I'm thinking they'll have moniters on stage for that actually^. That seems to be the way they do their shows, with the moniters behind them. Has anyone seen a show where they dont use the side moniters to show the band?

I can always get a good spot, well in front of the soundboard, just by getting there right after the last acts before the headliner are finishing. If you need to be in the first 20 rows or so that is different, then you have to camp out. Honestly though, I think you can see perfectly well anywhere in front of the soundboard.
So unless you need to be super close, don't worry about it too much. You are not going to get stuck in the back of the field if you go to see a tent show, and don't get to the main stage till like 7:30 or so.
yeah thats what i thought, they usually have crazy pictures and images flashing on the big screens. ill be suprised if the tape the band members and put em up there.
