I definatly would NOT want to see this. Axl cant sing for his life anymore, anyone hear the new song? Hes past his prime as a musician, which isnt the case with sting, and without a good axl gnr sucks.
Ill agree that the new songs that Ive heard sound like garbage. Lets not forget "Oh My God". But Like I said, he sounds great live. Check out this vid from the Download Fest. I hate Sebastian Bach, but its the best quality vid there is. I must say, they really do sound good. As much as it kills me to say that. I hope every GnR fan just downloads Chinese Democracy to stick it to them.
Here's the vid.
Sebastian Back sounds terrible. Just listen for Axl, guys voice is from another world.
I was born in the back seat of a Yellow Cab in a hospital loading zone and with the meter still running. I emerged needing a shave and shouted 'Time Square, and step on it!
well at the very very very least they had 2 great albums. lies and appetite for destruction are both incredible.
I agree, but would also add that there's a classic album buried in the bloatedness of the two Use Your Illusion discs. It's pretty easy to put together one disc of incredible music if you're picking and choosing.
axl's a flake, if it happened i'd be thrilled, but axl's such a douchebag i can't see slash staying which to me means its not worth seeing. just my opinion
Yeah, Axl did the one thing that youre not supposed to do in rock music... IF you have f^cking Slash as a guitarist, dont fire him for petes sake. Im sorry but what he did was unforgivable.
When I clicked this link I thought it was a joke...I like GnR in the same way I like Heston movies. They're so incredibly bad, they actually make the full circle and become good again. The fact that they suck, don't realize they suck, and take themselves so seriously, makes it like slapstick comedy.
axl sounded good on that song. sabastian bach sounded like shit. the new gnr song "better" your probably talking about... i liked it! that may just be me though. but noooo i wouldnt want them at roo. no way.
I don't think that GN'R have the ideal vibe for Roo. That said, if they were booked I would camp out!!!! (And wait and wait and wait -- even at their peak they were never a very punctual act.)
Ryan's definitely right about their being one good album in the Use Your Illusions. As a career-long fan (I first saw them live as an opener for Aerosmith's Permanent Vacation tour) my biggest frustration has been than nobody has learned how to manage Axl. He is programed for excess and has never censored an impulse! He also needs a producer that will rein him in and stop the self-indulgence. (How the Hell did that ending to "Don't Cry" ever get on an album -- twice?!?!? And it remained on the damn single!!!!)
At the end of the day I guess that I am Charlie Brown and a GN'R resurrection is my football.
I have to say The Police are in a whole different league the GnR ever would hope to be.
I would actually disagree with that, its purely bias on both our parts but I am not looking forward to seeing The Police, I will probably not go to the show. I am not into their music but GNR was one of the first bands I ever loved, Appetite For Destruction was one of the first albums I ever owned. I do agree that they shouldnt be at Bonnaroo for vibe and Axl not being able to sing anymore but I wouldnt say they are in a whole different league. GNR could pump a crowd better than the police will ever be able to.
*My opinion, but I am open for any criticism*
dude-if i go i will be with you- as far away from sting/police as i can get
gnr's shows last year at hammmerstein with the new band were great
I too plan on sitting at the campsite during The Police......ive never seen em before but I cant see me enjoying hearing Roxanne or Message in a Bottle.....But I sat at camp with all our buddies last year during Tom Petty too.......just something about that radio rock
a typical GnR show is not for the roo that's for sure....but what about an acoustic show that could be pretty sweet...a late night acoustic set with GnR...like a 90 minute set...rock it up at the end as Oysterhead comes out for a few hours
Nah. GnR acoustic? I couldn't do it. Electric feat. Slash would be the only way to go. I'd actually prefer they just did a 30 minute set of the songs people care to hear, and then move onto something real.
