Dont know if anyone else has noticed(or if posted already)....but the other day white stripes were on the same line as police, tool, and wsp...now they are not....probably room for RR?? or someone else..or am i overthinnking this???
That is pretty interesting and I have no idea what to say about this. Maybe it could be room fr another big name? We'll just have to wait and see if it is anything.

My guess would be Bob Dylan. He is the biggest name that could potentially be added, but not considered headliner material. Maybe Willie Nelson. Also, maybe somethign like Phil or trey if they were late night. Any other band that I could think of would fall behind The White Stripes on the list. i.e.:
The Mars Volta Sigur Ros Modest Mouse Arcade Fire TV on the Radio MMJ etc.
They are up there but room seems like it has been made for another name. It looks like the White Stripes where pushed to the 2nd row to make way for something. A big name mayhap?

Or they could just be trying to seperate the headliners from the rest of the line-up,so there is no confusion as to who is headlining. But we can all dream of a fourth headliner... maybe Roger Waters?
I am still almost certain Dylan will be added. That Bob Links website hasn't let me down before. And The White Stripes have moved to the 2nd line for me too.

Bob Dylan would most definetly be a headliner at any Bonnaroo. I like Dylan, but Im not in love with him. Still doesnt take away the fact that he's heralded as one of the most prolific singer/sonwritters ever.
If Tom Petty is headliner material then Bob Dylan most certainly is.
I was born in the back seat of a Yellow Cab in a hospital loading zone and with the meter still running. I emerged needing a shave and shouted 'Time Square, and step on it!

Bob Dylan was there in 04 and didn't headline.
I absoulutely forgot about that. I dont believe he was supporting anything that year, and last year Tom was supporting Highway Companion. I just think at this point its a little absurd for Dylan not to headline if Petty has. Im even a much bigger fan of Tom Petty. I just think 2 decades of comparisons and talk about passing the torch means Dylan should headline.

Personally, I'd rather see Neil Young over Bob Dylan, but either one would be great.
I've seen Neil play tons of times. The prospect of him playing anywhere is appealing. Even though I know he won't, Id rather see Neil take it easy for a bit. I dont even think its been a year since his aneurysm.

It's just so that the headliners are on their own line. If you look at all the other lineups from past years, it's the same way. Headliners get the top line, and only headliners. Overthinking it, guys.

About Dylan:
1-He didn't headline before, so i doubt he will this time. 2-Petty only headlined because it was his 30th or 35 aniversary tour. 3-IMO Dylan is not the type of act to headline. More singer songwriter style suited for preheadliner (which is the time slot I think he will play).
About Neil:
1-He already has put out an album (Living with War) and toured with CSN&Y after his aneurysm. 2-The only way Neil is added (unless he plays solo acoustic), is if he headlines. This would mean Panic gets bumped to preheadliner, late night, or there actually is a Thursday headliner (doubt it).

maybe so, but we've got a little less than 4 months worth of time to kill between now and 'roo, and if overthinking anything is a crime, we better ALL just stay off inforoo until June
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!

1) Alot of the harder work done on the album was completed prior to the aneurysm. Neil took it real easy afterwards. Must have missed that tour.............. 7/6/06 - Camden, NJ, 8/22/06- Long Island, NY, 8/23/06 Long Island, NY, 8/27/06- NYC, NY.
And I'm sorry, time flies. Its been over a year since. Id still like to see Neil take it easy for a bit. He's in his 60s now and Id like to see him stick around so my kids can see him one day.

Mystery solved:
White Stripes are on the top row when viewed in Firefox and on the second row when viewed in IE.
Window size doesn't affect it, screen resolution might, but I can't be bothered to try...

i'm thinking bob dylan, didn't the white stripes open for him on one of his tours? i think neil young would be good, but adding csn would make it much better, seeing that warren will be there, i'm hoping for allman brothers and derek trucks, hopefully he can bring along eric clapton, could clapton open for the police? maybe csny could? or manu chao? what about ben harper? or perhaps iggy and the stooges? i think the shins will probably be there, since they've started to blow up, that new album kicks ass, maybe mars volta, umphrey's mcgee, perpetual groove, bump, probably one or two of the following-jack johnson, g. love, donavon frankenreiter, alo, matt costa, ray lamontagne, john cruz, mishka, i know all those artists aren't exactly similar or on brushfire, but i tend to classify all those bands together, i don't know why, i just do

I've seen Neil since the aneurism and him was fine. Great show, CSNY in Indy last summer/fall.
Also, someone asked about the Stripes opening for Dylan. It was the Raconteurs and it was on his last tour.
Dylan, my favorite of all time, probably won't ever headline Bonnaroo, but I would love to have him back.
Yeah, he looked great at all the stops I caught. Neil was one of my first shows when I was much younger and Ive never been able to shake the obsession of hearing him just play guitar live. Here's some great reading on Neils equipment. His guitar tone just gets me every time no matter what he's playing.
Guitar- "1953 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop – Nicknamed "Old Black", this is Young's primary electric guitar and is featured on Rust Never Sleeps and most other albums. Old Black got its name from a purely amateur paintjob applied to the originally-gold body of the instrument, sometime before Neil acquired the guitar in the late 1960s. In 1972, a mini-humbucker pickup from a Gibson Firebird guitar was installed into the lead/treble position, replacing a P-90 as standard on Les Paul guitars from that era. This pickup, severely microphonic, is considered a crucial component of Neil's sound. A Bigsby tremelo unit was installed as early as 1969 on the guitar, and can be heard clearly during the opening of "Cowgirl in the Sand" from Everybody Knows This is Nowhere."
Amp- "Various vintage Fender Deluxe amplifiers – Neil's preferred amplifier for electric guitar is the diminutive Fender Deluxe, specifically a Tweed-era model from 1959. Neil purchased his first vintage Deluxe in 1967 for $50 and has since acquired nearly 450 different examples, all from the same era, but he maintains that it's the original model that sounds superior, and is a crucial component to his trademark sound. A notable and unique accessory to Young's Deluxe is the Whizzer, a device created specifically for Young, which physically changes the amplifier's settings to pre-set combinations. It has gone through many incarnations, and now includes effects pedals hardwired into its circuitry."
