GREAT REVIEW OF NEW ALBUM (and, Clutch in general):
Clutch - From Beale Street To Oblivion
It doesn't take a DEA agent to notice that in recent years, Clutch have been reaching for the bottle of smooth sipping whiskey rather than the bong. Their latest offering, "From Beale Street To Oblivion", continues this trend with the bands trademark bluesy boogie strutting about in fine form with enough swagger to ensure substantial beard growth.
Groove is king and Clutch make sure the dust doesn't settle as they march forth with smoky southern riffing and a stout rhythm section. Increased usage of organ and harmonica boost morale and slow burning mid-tempo numbers take precedence. But that's not to say Clutch are mellowing out as much as they continue to mature. It would take more than a few grey hairs and male pattern baldness to inhibit them from unleashing these smoldering solos and ever colorful performances.
Sure in contrast to the bands earliest work "From Beale Street To Oblivion" may sound like night and day. But the fact that these gents have reworked "One Eye Dollar" from 1999's "Jam Room" and included it here, with few being the wiser, is a testament to just how settled in Clutch have become. No longer do they have to reinvent themselves, instead, much like that ol' bottle of whiskey, they just continue to get stronger and smoother with age.

I just looked at their website and even though their is nothing listed for the 14th, they have all the dates filled from the 15th on, so it looks very likely now that Clutch will play Thursday night.
i'm excited that clutch is playing bonnaroo. i've been thinking for a few years that the new style would probably fit in. but i was still very surprised to see them on the list. they are playing thur. night. i wish it were a late night set.
I, too, hope it doesn't interfer with the VIP preshow. BUT, if it does, I'll be going to Clutch, free beer be d**mned. I was introduced about a year ago and LOVE everything I've heard from them.
I have been a fan for years, but I have never seen them. If any moshing happens, it won't be at Tool, it will be here.... I will meet you up front peoples !!!!!!
Just saw the mighty C! in Minneapolis last Thursday, & as usual, they put on one helluva show. They have a harmonica player with them right now (Eric from Five Horse Johnson), which is a really nice addition. Especially for the songs on the new album that he played on to begin with.
If Clutch is a maybe... or "I might check them out" kind of thing for you. Do yourself a favor & just go see them. I doubt you'd be disappointed. They are a jam band with a heavier sound, or a heavy band with jamming tendencies (whichever you prefer).
Realistically, my opinion should probably be taken with a grain of salt, as I am a HUGE fan of Clutch. See you there... I'll be the big tattooed guy, sort of up front, singing along to all the songs.
Saw Clutch last night at Slim's in San Francisco, they killed it.
Super small bar/club, they rocked out, no moshing though. The lack of moshin may have been a result of Slim's overselling the venue. They were lucky no fire marshals were around (No fires for that matter either).
Here's the setlist:
Progress Player Devil & Me 100011 Mice & Gods Cypress Arizona (new song) Regulator Child of the City E. Worry Pulaski W. Ferry Curandera Gravel Rd. Talkin'
They just sent me "From Beale St. to Oblivion," and it is BADASS. Can't wait to talk to Neil and see their set! Gonna be one of the most rockin' sets of the weekend for sure!
