Are they an older band? I think I've heard of them, but, please, refresh my memory.
When I sent the line-up email to my boss today, Hot Tuna was the only band he made a comment about. His comment was something like, "I can't believe Hot Tuna is still around and kicking - what a long strange trip it's been."
I saw them a couple of times on the "Further" tour. Great sets and a great fit for Bonnaroo. They would be great in the Codetalkers slot from last year. Noon on Sunday Big Stage! You would be able to get real close and watch Jorma jam.

I think maybe that is why they are familiar to me. I saw a bunch of the Further shows.... I'm old and can't remember that far back

Definitely excited about this one. I meant to see them when they came near me on tour last year, but it didn't work out. I've been listening to their '72 benefit concert for the California Marijuana Initiative on Wolfgang's Vault. I remember reading a story about how back during an outdoor concert in the 70's they jammed so loud that the next day the local farmers complained that their cows wouldn't give milk. I'm sure they've mellowed quite a bit in their old age, but I'm sure they'll still be solid.
im definately excited about ht. one of my roommates from school always used to play them. last year he said go see bill frisell and he rocked so im definately psyched.

I've seen them 6 or 7 times. They even played at my school, way back when... I seriously doubt anyone will be disappointed at all. Their website gives a little of their history- www.hottuna.com/ Meatman has it right, they'd be the perfect afternoon band! Is it June yet?
If Hot Tuna is gonna be there, there could be a possibility of New Riders of the Purple Sage, the guitar player and bass player for Hot Tuna also play in NRPS and they are gonna be on tour this summer.

Sorry guys, Jack and Jorma weren't in NRPS, but the some of the guys from Stir Fried are in NRPS and Buddy Cage was in both bands. The New Riders would be a great addition though!
I know that Jack and Jorma didn't play with NRPS (now I see that headinlot's post said that), but I would have sworn that there was some overlap with their current supplemental lineup. Ehhh, I'm probably wrong! Thanks for the clarification, JBJ!
i saw both hot tuna and new riders a couple of times last year at gratefulfest and at gathering of the vibes. great shows! cant wait to see them again this year. perfect daytime shows!
Yo, karma for this string. I've been am Airplane freak scince I was ten and these guys are truly legends. It's good to see a show that I can just chill out at and let the music take me back.

yea headinlot, I think you are thinking of David Nelson.
When I lived in CA I saw Hot Tuna acoustic and electric. The acoustic show was at the Great American and it was awesome really unique and intimate, with TONS of wisecracks from Jorma and Jack.
The electric show was at the Fillmore and it was rocking, but all the songs are 12-bar blues so the formula is pretty repetitive. I still dug it alot, and there was some funny banter at this gig also.
I hope they play acoustic, but its pretty unrealistic, given the size of Bonnaroo, so we will likely see and electric set.

my fault Michael Falzarano from Tuna plays with NRPS bassist and drummer are from Stir Fried
This was the first band I mentioned to my freind when the lineup came out and he just said "We're gong!" I am sooooo pumped to see them. It will be great to just relax and just enjoy.
mmmm, definitely nice to see them on the line up, and Sunday afternoon -- absolutely
Sunday afternoon definatly makes seeing them on the lineup just that much sweeter. Last years sunday was one of the most relaxing days and with Hot Tuna sunday, it is shaping up to be that way again.
