If the flaming Lips do get a late night, I think they would have to play on the 2nd stage like Primus and Trey. Their stage show has just gotten too big for a tent. They have an f'n spaceship for chissake. heres the video: groovyshoe.imeem.com/video/AyLSYUnY/the_flaming_lips_spaceship_nye_eve_sf/
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it

I just know they will throw up White Stripes and Flaming Lips up against each other.
Never going to happen. Bonnaroo knows what they are doing, and tries not to put similar genre artists on at the same time. Late nights usually break down into categories:
Funk/Jazz Newer Alternative/Indy band Rap/Hip-Hop Electronic Jamband
They try to spread the crowd out, so I doubt you would see these two bands going head to head.
i think i might have to have my second annual put my foot in my mouth moment. but im gonna say if string cheese incident isnt a latenight ill give my ticket away ;D

See, I think that if superfly invested their time and resources to get cheese on their last tour (possibly their only festival appearance) then they should definately either headline them (which isn't going to happen) or give them a late night slot. It would be a total waste to throw them on for "90 minutes in the middle of the day" when they could totally blow up whatever tent they're playing in til 6 in the morning.

agreed. especially with keller there. sci could play for two hours, keller and the wmds can play for for an hour and a half, and then keller williams incident can play until everyone drops dead from exhaustion!!!

anyone who was there last year can tell you this, but there is absolutely -no- other time slot for Sasha (& Digweed) other than a very late night set lasting into the morning. drool
wow, now THATS an idea! STS9 going on after a night's headliner and sasha & digweed after that to sunrise and beyond...that would be surreal. i wonder if my mind/body could take the kind of punishment they would be put through if the times were like that hehe ;D
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!
Not sure if anyone has mentioned it or not but I think Manu Chao would blow the place away late night, especially if they added a couple more Latin acts like Ozomatili and Kinky.
I'm really excited for that STS9 late night. I can only imagine the clashing now. It's gonna be so hard, I'm gonna have to check 'em out on the tour in general just so as a precaution.

Here's what I'm thinking. I'm not sure that Tool is going to play a three hour headline spot as we've seen in the past, nor am I positive that The Police will either. So I think more than one band could play a late night stage.
Here's one scenario...
FRIDAY
1. String Cheese Incident (11-1)/ Sound Tribe Sector Nine (2:00 - whenever) 2. Galactic + Hip Hop 3. Girl Talk/DJ Shadow
SATURDAY
1. Ween (11:00 - 1:00)/ The Flaming Lips (2:00 - 4:00) 2. Brazilian Girls/Sasha and Digweed 3. Bob Weir and Ratdog

I cannot handle having to choose between Sasha/Digweed and the F'Lips....aggggghhhhhhhhhhh. Late Night at 'Roo '07 is going to be the party of the flippin' decade. DJ Shadow...F'Lips....Girl Talk....WEEN!!!

wolfmother could be cool. i was hoping for some dungen last year for late night.
Yeah I was hoping for Dungen too, oh well. This year I am really hoping Black Angels get a night slot.
I don't want to see Wolfmother get a night set because it will be short, only 1 album out so far, sure Black Angels only have 1 album / 1 EP but they do lots of covers and can jam out. They are pretty awesome when they jam.
Flaming Lips better get a late night set! Dj Shadow would be good as well, sure he will, DJ's seem to.
If roo could get The Mars Volta to play, I would idealy put them late friday night after Tool. Tool needs to play late night, but I think they will headline.

.
no worries they're schedualed for sunday
Nice! I'm glad they are too. They are not big enough to play the 5PM slot, and maybe not even big enough to play at 3PM. I love this band, and I love the fact that because they are a smaller band, there is almost no chance something I would rather see will be on stage at the same time.
