Who do you guys think should be the pre-headliners?
I say Ziggy Marley - The Police Wolfmother (big enough?) - Tool Ben Harper - WSP
I think the hard part of guessing the pre-headliners is that the band should fit with who they're leading into, but they should also be big enough, and fit the time slot as well.

here are my initial guesses:
wolfmother>white stripes>tool ziggy marley>manu chao>the police govt mule>bob weir and ratdog>widespread hold steady>spoon>ween>flaming lips old crow>gillian welch and david rawlings>decemberists>wilco keller williams>string cheese incident feist>kings of leon>franz ferdinand franti and spearhead>the roots>ben harper lily allen>regina spektor>damien rice black keys sasha and digweed>dj shadow
thats all i got right now...too much thinking involved

Am I the only one who doesn't consider the pre-headline spot special?
My sense of time gets so messed up at Bonnaroo that being on the What Stage at 4pm means nothing to me. It's just another decision I have to make among the numerous conflicts. The headliner is the only thing that seems to matter since they are the only show in town at that time.
Pre-headline is key. Beck totally made the wait for Radiohead much, much easier last year. If you love the pre-headliner as much as the headliner, you don't have to sacrifice seeing another band you want in order to camp out in a spot for the headliner.

Ahhh. As I have no intentions of camping out for any act my above statement holds. (I am quite content to groove in the back). I wasn't even close for Radiohead (back by the soundboard) and it was still waaaaaay too packed in. Never again.
