I predict MMJ will get that Friday Headliner set now (with Special Guests). Anyone else think so. These guys have paid ther 'Roo dues and I think they can fill the time.

Last year's set answered all questions about filling the time...

i wish
but they'll probably get the headliner lead in or headline the Which stage.
I still don't think they could headline. When asking myself if a band could headline, I think "Could they fill a 20,000 seat amphitheatre on their own?" Almost every previous headliner has done that, or come close. I don't think MMJ is on that level quite yet.

correction: my morning jacket IS at that level already..... they may not have done it yet, but they are more than ready to rock a house that big... personally i think it would go down as the best set ever at B'roo, topping last years Radiohead set..... jim james is a rock god, if you do not know it yet you will know SOON
Sorry, but I'm gonna have to agree with GT here. It's not a question of ability, it's a question of name recognition. MMJ ROCK and put on shows that very few bands can. However, they haven't really had mainstream success to get them into that spot. They will be amazing at Langerado, and if their next album explodes like it could, then maybe they could headline in the next few years. This year they will almost certainly be on a stage though. If I had my choice, they'd be playing the Which Stage late-night, showing respect for their Roo history and letting them play at night.

MMJ fever is getting too strong around here. No one denies that they put on a good show, but sheer popularity is even more important. But there's also a third factor, one which MMJ haven't yet achieved: a Bonnaroo headliner has to have proven themselves as an important part of musical history. For some previous headliners it's more of a stretch than others, but all have had long careers and have achieved a certain status. MMJ hasn't yet.
They need to headline a stadium tour before they do Bonnaroo. I would venture to say Arcade Fire is a bigger act than MMJ at this point, and they couldn't headline Bonnaroo. I'm thinking Wilco's a lot more likely headliner.

I see MMJ as either a pre-headliner on the main stage or a closer on the Which stage. My gut tells me that they won't have another late-night slot this year.

...it seems to me that putting MMJ in the preheadliner spot would be a step back from last years performance since their set time would be limited and in the daylight. i also don't expect another late night tent slot which leads me to buy into that they'll be rockin' the late night which stage (which was not active this year)
