Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
With Coachella booking Rage, along with the other big reunions (Jesus & Mary Chain, Crowded House,) they've gotten publicity like never before. In honesty, this is probably the first year they've really rivaled Bonnaroo in terms of media coverage with their announcement.
Anyways, in the spirit of competition and money it would seem that Bonnaroo will have to do something equally special to really show that they are still the big dog and they are America's biggest for a reason. The Police would/will be huge, but with their big tour and everything it won't be a real reunion/one off kind of show.
My question is, who/what could Bonnaroo bring in to really give the festival a here-now kind of vibe? The kind of bands to get people to say "damn!"
Last year Radiohead worked because it was a very different booking and their only festival performance in America for quite a while. I could be wrong and they could book a solid lineup top to bottom with a huge name (the Police) at the top, but Bonnaroo hasn't ever really relented, so what could we get this year?
that would be rediculous, maybe a pavement reunion?
That would be great, as would Talking Heads.
Now I am going to show my old punk flag and ask for a Slint, Jesus Lizard, or At the Drive In reunion. None of those would really be Roo-friendly though. Maybe Slint.
I almost forgot about my one of my favorites: The Beta Band

At The Drive-In will never reunite! Their break-up was much less than amiable. Jim Ward (now in Sparta) seems more than a little bitter about Omar and Cedric leaving to form The Mars Volta. Likewise, they have both said that they are happy to leave the ATDI chapter of their lives closed. If it were to ever happen, I would definitely be there....but i'm not holding my breath. TMV is more than enugh to keep me happy. They are amzing...one of the best, most original bands i've ever heard!

I don't know why anyone would want an ATDI reunion... TMV is so much better, it fills all possible needs.
uh, cause at the drive in freakin rocks, thats why!
Do yourself a favor, purchase any of the following Vaya, IN casino Out, or relationship of command. Totally different band & genre, but equally as impressive, and by far more influential. I absolutely love the Volta, but the reason I love them, is because I was a huge ATDI fan first. Anyone else?, or is everyone just Volta fans because of '05 Roo? ???
Agreed. I would also love to see CSN&Y. If any combo of CSN&Y are on the line-up I know I'll be able to talk my dad into going ... I'm keeping my fingers crossed. ;D

I don't know if anyone else would dig this, and I can't remember anyone mentioning them, but I would love to see a reunited Stone Temple Pilots play at Bonnaroo. I know they all have their other projects (velvet revolver/army of anyone) But I really love these guys, all of their records are quality recordings, all the band members are solid musicians, and Scott Weiland's voice is amazing. I think if Pearl Jam could play, why couldn't STP?
Neil Young with Crazy Horse. I don't know how many of you have seen Neil Young with different combinations of bands but Crazy Horse is awesome.. Last time I saw Neil with Crazy Horse was in 90? Ragged Glory
it'd be cool to see some of these bands reunite, but whenever bands do that, you've gotta worry about them soulessly going through the motions, and, from what i've heard, that's all pink floyd/roger waters does these days.
Not a popular thought here, I'm sure, but I'll type it anyways.
If Roo is interested in diversifying and having a high-profile year that can compete with Coachella, they may consider a country headliner. This would allow them to take a knock at Coachella's new country fest. One name comes out as an absolute draw from that genre, one that has been in retirement for about five years -- Garth Brooks.
I know that he is the devil to many on this board but he has always had a strong touring record and is known as a true performer. It would build a buzz and be a "get" for Roo, though, and would do so without drawing in a fanbase that would traumatize Rooers like an aggressive band such as NIN, Rage or the Chili Peppers.
Anyways, this is probably a wicked long shot but I figured I'd mention it in the spirit of the thread.
In terms of a reunion show, Led Zep would clearly be the most noteworthy given that three of the members are still alive and kicking. Again, not likely but buzz-building and not threatening to the Roo community.
