A Dylan/Dead headlining spot would be pretty special. Even just Dylan>The Dead is enough to make me smile. If I had a choice, though, Dylan with the living Band members would be my dream.
id rather see dylan with the band. and if its not with the dead or the band i hope it isnt a headliner. i already scratched dylan off my must see list and he made it onto my in no hurry to see again list. i dont really care whos headlining if we get phil, bob (weir not dylan), trey, and winwood...... or hornsby in winwoods spot. thats really my biggest wish this year.

I feel like Dylan with numerous guests is a given....if he's there who wouldn't wanna guest for a song? And that has potential to be mind-blowing. But Dylan and the Dead? That's legendary.
well one would have thought the same about dylan and guests in 04 and it was a no go. i personally was hoping for some all along the watch tower with some guests, or some up on criple creek. i thought dylan would come out when dave busted into cripple creek. and figured hed stay for watchtower. didnt happen. and the dead were there. no dylan collab though.
and i do love dylan... just dosent impress me live. my middle name is dylan. my parents were hippies. and granted the guys done many shows. ive seen one. but it was roo. and it didnt impress me. and ive heard dozens of other reviews from people that wrere unimpressed with other shows. even my parents who saw him back when it was a huge deal said it was boring and unimpressive. but for me id look at it as the dead, or the band headlining with dylan sitting in.. not the other way around. not that it really matters what ya call it.

I would love too see them...Although it seems unlikely, Bonnaroo is one of, if not the most progressive music festivals in the world. All the lineups have proven that anyone can show up.
i dont think they are on that bad of terms. no worse then in 04. phil is a peaceful happy dude. and bobs always after that paycheck.. so i think they could get back together. phil for the love of music. and bobby for the paycheck. one of the biggest bs things i have ever witnessed was myself and several other fans at the vibes. stuck in a hellacious thunderstorm walking back to camp because they cancelled the everyoneorchestra due to violent lightning. and they shut down the friggin road to our camp for 20 minutes so bob weir could leave in his million dollar bus. phil puts on a much better and more conistently great show then bobby. and hes a better person that i have much more respect for. but i will never pass up seeing bob, thats for sure. ill take dead where i can get it

*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
i enjoy my brother esau quite a bit. but id probably of liked it better if it was a jerry song.
shadowboxing the apocalypse and wandering the land
It's brother to brother and it's man to man And it's face to face and it's hand to hand... We shadowdance the silent war within. The shadowdance, it never ends... Never ends, never ends. Shadowboxing the Apocalypse, yet again... Yet again. Shadowboxing the Apocalypse, And wandering the land.

Bobby did always seem like a bit of an outcast in the GD, what with his polo shirts and all... But, his voice is so eloquent and smooth; it's not typical but it's perfect for the Grateful Dead. He proves the Grateful Dead formula of all accepted and anything goes... Still my least favorite as well, but that's like picking a favorite child. I love them all!
ya i agree. and i should clarify. id probably like the songs better if jerry had sang them from the get to. but now i wouldnt have them anyother way then the way they are. bobby grew on me and i wouldnt change it for anything. well atleast the times that he remembered all the words and did a good job.
I love when bobby wails and brings the energy as a counterpart to Jerry's laid back mellowness. Nothing beats Bobby belting out "Little Red Rooster" Phil's voice annoys me, but if he is around, I know there is magic and good tunes in the air.
Phil's shows to me are more enjoyable, but I only want him to sing Box of Rain. Bob is my least favorite member of the Dead as well. And Dylan's 'roo 04 show is the worst Dylan show I've been to. I enjoyed it alot, but I've seen him 4 other times and they've all been MUCH better. In fact, 2006 in Lexington, KY is not only my favorite Dylan show, but one of my favorite shows of all time. But I still don't see him headlining. Leading into the Dead or Phil and Friends would be perfect.
i agree. phil on box of rain is magical. that song just has so much meaning. but the rest of his singing isnt so hot. but it dosent bother me cause the guys is having fun. hes earned it. and hes not THAT bad.
ive been listening to phil at roo, starting with the other ones. and he sounds pretty damn good on all of it. i drank quite a few beers. but he sounds good. and the show kicks ass. i havent listened to it in a while. i just got all of the dicks picks from a friend so ive been listening to that for weeks.

The Dead would be hands down my favorite at ROO. I used too have a bootleg tape of the dead with Dylan and it was friggin sweet. Yo Dude I was at Vibes too and thought the Rhythm Devils and then Rat Dog was sweet. Throw Hornsby in on the keys and look out. Although I look forward to seeing many different artists and hopefully get turned on to something new(to me) I love the dead.
you know if the dead are at roo were going to get rained on. but ill take the rain.
Wow.. it's true, i wasn't at 03, but the rain in '04 started right before the dead's set and delayed them... then this year it didn't rain until Phil's set...

I think there's a common sentiment that Bobby was just a little different than the rest of the band, and more importantly, us. Phil's shows feel like a real celebration of something intangible and maybe something unique to each of us. Another big part of Phil's shows are the extremely personal connection with the fans. Just like the Grateful Dead and Phish. But "The Dead" at times can come of a bit like a re-enactment, IMO. The songs just lack that explosive, upredictable, reaching sound. They lack Jerry. And while that can never be compensated for, Phil's show's take these awesome songs and takes them in new directions. That said, I wouldn't change the Weir songs either Dudewheresmyroo???. Bobby may be different, but his voice is eloquent, smooth and damn original. He takes ownership when he sings, like him or not. And I respect that.
