Hmm... the original point (although never proven) was made that Sufjan avoided festivals because he felt his music gets lost in the business of it all. And judging by the article, I don't know if this has been disproven. Sounds to me like Sufjan is playing this particular fest because he is close friends with the guy who runs it. Hope I'm wrong, though.
I am a huge fan of Sufjan. the idea that he wasn't playing this year was ridiculous. He has a free show at the Kennedy center on 2/5, he is also playing at Calvin College in Michigan soemtime in March. He did play the Sasquatch festival last year, so I think he can handle a fest. The important thing would be for him to bring the String and horn section that he brought when he toured this past fall. That way he'd be sure not to be drowned out by other stages. He would be a perfect option for the Doughty or Andrew Bird time of day performance, from last year.

i live in cincinnati, i haven't heard of that fest before, sounds pretty good, not really a fan of sufjan, i'm not gay either, but it'd be something to go to i guess, maybe if it was in a different part of town, over the rhine is the worst area in cincinnati and i can't imagine that crowd in that part of town
although unconventional, i think a late-night set would be ausome.
I strongly second that idea. I saw him recently and it was amazing. It was the first time I managed to get balcony seats at the Pageant (they tend to sell out immediately) and it was a great show to be in the balcony for. The brightly colored costumes would make a very nice late night visual.
I'm down for a late-night Sufjan. Don't think a daytime show would really suit his style. So late-night or at least in the evening and he'll rock the place for sure.
