There hasn't been much buzz about the possibility of Bloc Party playing roo this year, but it's time there should be. New album dropping next Tuesday and they have uploaded all new tracks on their myspace. New songs sound good...
They are showing a partial U.S. tour, but indicating no plans after Mar. 31. Could this be any indication of things to come? I sure as sh*t hope so. Of course they have played festivals in the past, ACL and such, but with no Coachella signing this year, the door is WIDE OPEN for a Bonnaroo appearance. I think they could fill the pre-headline Saturday spot before The Police in great fashion...
I don't think they're big enough to be on the mainstage. Not here in the states anyway. At the most they'd be on the 2nd stage. I wouldn't mind seeing them there. I wasn't a big fan of their last album, but I'd be interested to hear their new stuff.

I downloaded their Coachella 05 show and it's pretty good. There are a couple of new songs that sound better than the album version(7.18) and the Silent Alarm songs just kickass. I would def check out Bloc Party at Bonnaroo...
They've been on tour with Panic! At The Disco (kiddie punk pop) and in an interview in Paste, Kele seemed to be getting pretty PO'd with all the 13 year old girls who came for PATD ignoring them. Quite a contrast to go from that to Roo...
I saw them at Coachella 06 and they were pretty good, but not as great as I'd expected. Can't put my finger on it, but they didn't do it for me and wandered off to see someone else after 3 or 4 songs.

Agreed^, i actually like the new bloc party album more then arcade fire's, but that might just be because the quality is makin it hard to get into. I do think the albums good, and i like silent alarm, but i have read a few times that their live show isnt as good, but not horrible. If they were there i think id make a point in seeing them.
I saw them at Austin City Limits in 2005 and I was impressed. I thought their sound was great and they transferred well to the live setting. I will say, however, that they belong at night. They had quite a light show going on, which coupled with the nature of their songs led to an enjoyable show. Better than that record for me.

I don't really know much about them, but what i've heard is pretty good. They seem (to me ) like the perfect band for (my) Roo. I probably wouldn't ever pay to JUST see them, but at Bonnaroo i'd definitely check them out.

hi,
i loooooove bloc party and would love to see them at bonnaroo!!! last year was my first year and it was AMAZING!!! and kele admits he had never heard panic at the disco before going on tour w/ them..so you gotta cut them a little slack there and their drummers lung problem wasn't the only reason they dropped off that tour but it was a...well timed misfortune. b/c they all were hating it!
This is going a little too far. There's absolutely nothing wrong with having a message with your music, but there's no need to browbeat other people who don't.

"I thought that was treacherous because it's complicit with the capitalist society," Sounds like something I would have said in a 10th grade US history class. Jack White rules! and capitalism is inevitable, might as well make the best out of it eh.
