i'm hoping for a keller williams band>string cheese incident late night, either friday or saturday for like 3 or 4 hours, maybe they could do it how umphrey's>disco biscuits did it last year
im actually thinking keller williams band will get its own slot. sci should have the whole latenight to themselves. of course keller should visit though. im completley convinced that we will be getting sci latenight. i sure hope so. thats my most wanted latenight.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
i would love it. but i doubt it. i think latenight is where they will be which for me is better then a headliner anyhow. they can play longer and it thins out the crowd. i think they deserve the headline. but it wont happen. imo.

Most of the cheese heads that I've talked to seem to believe that cheese will not be at roo but possibly 10klf. or more likely, that they'll have their own festival at either red rocks or hornings hideout. That's just the word on the street though. I'm glad ya'll seem to think the contrary

Heh - yeah a lot of optimists here. I think if you gathered up everyone's expected bands and expected headliners we'd have 200 bands and 15 headliners
i have heard that there was a fallout because superfly wouldnt headline them. and sci refused to play anything but a headliner. although i dont remember where i saw it. probably on inforoo. but im hoping anywyas. it is the last tour. and a sci latenight would please the fans that desire more of a "return to your roots lineup".

I dont see them playing latenight though... They've never been a latenight band really... They will probably throw their own fest too, or at least something comparable, like a 5 night stand somewhere in Oregon or CO... Might play Roo or 10klf who knows, time will tell...
Nah- they won't headline. After last year's headliners, AC and Fly have to out-do themselves- SCI isn't going to out-do the draw they get from Radiohead, Petty, and Lesh. SCI are not household names. The others are.
(Not that I don't hope they are there, for the people who like SCI-I'll be happy for you if they are!)

Interesting, I actually busted out my tape of them playing Austin City Limits today, and got all excited about the thought of them at Roo.
I dunno if I believe the not headlining thing, when they played the smaller ACL festival this year they had an hour-long slot before Willie Nelson on the second stage.
Even though SCI has played non-headlining before, I think they could work just fine as a Sunday headliner. Someone mentioned that there is a precedent with Phil & Friends moving up to a headlining position, so I think if they billed it as the special performance it would be, then they could go up to a headliner. To be honest, even though the Dead are obviously bigger than SCI, I think more people across the musical board have heard of SCI than Phil Lesh.

There was precedence of Phil going from pre-headliner to headliner, but SCI hasn't pre-headlined. They'd be jumping from closing the second stage to closing the main stage, which is a little more far-fetched, IMO.

Way to be on top of it and give me hope isaac. If i never see a sci show it will be something i regret dearly, and theres no better place then headlining bonnaroo.
I hate to say it but it is something to regret. I hadn't seen them until this fall, so even though I wish I'd seen them more, at least I can be happy having seen them. I was too young to really have been up for Phish, but I still can't help but regret that too. Anyways...there's gotta be Cheese at Roo. When you look at all of the big acts that COULD be there, it could be one helluva festival.

They pre-headlined in 2002 before Widespread.
D'oh!
And don't fret it too much, otherwise you'll make it into something much grander than it was. I would say I was fortunate to have seen Phish once, back in '97... except it turned out to be a very off night for them, and I didn't enjoy it. So that will always be my Phish concert memory, and it was by no means a grand event.
I got lucky For no reason I was looking through the '02 schedule, thinking about how it would've been and how much I would've hated most of the music there at 18.
He's right, don't built them up TOO much, but if you haven't seen SCI before and they're at Roo, DON'T miss them.

I feel the exact same way about phish, i believe we're the same age, so i was also too young to know whats up. I've seen every member play in their own band, but i still wish i'd have been able to see phish. And for sci, i actually dont listen to them a ton, but its just one of those shows i really want to see, and i think they are a big part of the scene, so its something id like to be able to check off my to-do list.
We are the same age. 17, right? When is the lucky 18?
I've never even seen Trey play. My heart breaks every time I think about it. Even with that in mind, I consider myself a big fan and they're one of the bands that really led me into a love of jam. I figure the reunion will happen eventually, especially now that Page will be releasing a solo album, something that seems big in my mind. I'll just hope to be around when it happens. And if it happens soon, I'll definitely drop school for a while to follow them around. You've only got one chance.
The end of August is a long, long time away. Are you a junior?
Back to the Cheese - can we get a Last Waltz kind of thing for them? If they play it will be a farewell show, so if we could get them to bring out all the rest of the gods of jam, from Robert to Trey to Warren to Keller to whoever...I can't think of a better headliner, barring PF.

Nope, senior. I agree thats how SCI can headline, by having a ton of guest, since SCI is an easily guestable band. I agree that theres not many headliners better then basically an SCI lead superjam.
Damn, that's really young for a senior. So at Roo in 2005, you were 15. How'd ya get there?
I like the idea a lot, it just keeps growing on me. I love the idea of hearing a mandolin/steel guitar duel, or to hear Trey and Kang going at each other, since they sound eerily similar at times.
