Phish's McConnell Goes Solo With Legacy Page McConnell
Jonathan Cohen, N.Y. Phish keyboardist Page McConnell has inked with Legacy Recordings for the April 17 release of his self-titled solo debut. The nine -track set sports contributions from ex-bandmates Trey Anastasio and Mike Gordon as well as veteran session drummer Jim Keltner.
"I started working on it about two years ago, not with an end goal in mind, but for the joy of the process," McConnell says in a statement. "As the project evolved, I realized the songs held together as a body of work with some recurring themes, especially that of new beginnings."
McConnell previously released two albums with his side band Vida Blue, which featured bassist Oteil Burbridge and drummer Russell Batiste.
Here is the track listing for "Page McConnell":
"Beauty of a Broken Heart" "Heavy Rotation"
"Maid Marian" "Close to Home" "Runaway Bride" "Back in the Basement" "Rules I Don't Know" "The Complex Wind" "Everyone But Me"
so i was just wondering what everyone thinks about this. i think its pretty much a given that he will be at roo, with a new cd and all. and being a phish fan i would be thrilled. but i wonder who would be in his band? hopefully Oteil. oh well, he hasnt even annoucned a tour or anything yet. so for right now its pretty much all wishful thinking.
I'm actually pretty excited for this CD. You know, if he's there with his solo band, along with Trey and maybe the Jazz Mandolin Project...man the rumors will start swirling.
i just dont see a time slot that would work. he couldnt head line and i dont see them playing in a tent or during the day. but who knows, he could. late night on the which stage would be great (maybe he could try and do it right). plus with the whole getting arrested thing he may not want to. plus his site said he wasnt touring much in 07. but i sure hope he is there, wouldnt be bonnaroo without him, at least not for me.
I believe it was 04 that Jazz Mandolin, Vida Blue, Trey, and Mike Gordon/Leo Kottke were all there and rumors were rampant...But Phish will never reunite at Bonnaroo...Not that it would bother me one bit
Trey will find a way to play. Besides it was weird enough last year without Warren. Felt like Christmas without grandma...
Amen to that. Warren had always been there, twice doing two scheduled shows in the same year (ABB and solo in 03, ABB and Mule in 05). Since it is an odd numbered year I figure ABB will be back. And I am sure that Trey will somehow be there. He only missed 03 I do believe.

I would LOVE me some Allman bros... and its been a long time since i've seen jazz mandolin... Never seen a Page project so i'd definately check it out..
I too would enjoy seeing Page's solo project barring any huge conflict.
Last year was the first year since 2002 that I didn't see the Allman Bros at least once. They played three shows in my area of the country over Bonnaroo weekend so I missed out.
