So Pearl Jam probably being out sucks, but with some bad comes good, as the Roots are good as confirmed. From the band's official website:

"So what's going on here. Hip Hop is 30yrs old and feeling a bit tired. Neo-Soul died years ago. We've got things like the Plug Awards (vote through February 2nd), festivals such as Coachella (with arguably its best line up yet), Bonnaroo, and Lollapolooza (all 3 fests reportedly feature The Roots), and a slew of Web sites (no more outside the one I already stated who I will mention) that honor creativity, individuality, experimentation, and taking chances. You don't really find these things in much hip hop nowadays. Where you will find them though, is right here on Okayplayer."
Oh, I thought it said it was official. It looks like it's a fan site, but I think since the Roots themselves obviously endorse it that it's a pretty darn good source. Take it as you may I suppose.

If it's true, i'll be pretty happy to check-out their set. I used to really dig The Roots, but KOOLed some after their cigarette marketing gig. I'm not too thrilled with most of the "confirmed" acts, so i'll be there. That is, as long as they don't get out-weighed by a scheduling conflict.
