It was briefly mentioned somewhere, at some point... this would be a hypothetical group that would operate like Telluride's, and would be comprised of artists who not only have been at Bonnaroo many a time, but also embody the spirit and style. Obviously who should be in the band is up for debate... so that's what we'll do!
Here's how it works: pick one musician for each of the four (4) main slots-- guitar, bass, drums, keys. You also have two (2) optional "other" slots, which could be a separate vocalist, 2nd guitarist, or whoever else you think belongs. When all is said and done, we'll see which musicians get the most votes!
Here are my picks: guitar: Warren Haynes bass: Les Claypool keys: John Medeski drums: Stanton Moore other #1: Robert Randolph (pedal steel) other #2: DJ Logic (turntables)
Man, Rush at Bonnaroo would be awesome! Good thinking, they are releasing a new album in 2007.
Anyways, I like the idea of this thread.
Guitar: Warren Haynes/Trey - Impossible for me. Bass: Les Claypool - Epitomises Bonnaroo. Keys: Kyle Hollingsworth - Hasn't played in a while, but I love his playing and I've never seen anyone look like they're having more fun than he does. Drums: Danger Mouse. So it wouldn't be real drums, but he lays down incredible beats and I had to get him in somehow. other #1: Chris Thile (always need mandolin) other #2: Jim James (vocals/guitars/hair)
Bela Fleck and all of the Flecktones, Cunninger, Phil, Robert Randolph, they'd all rock.
Guitar- Trey Keys- Medeski Bass- Les Claypool Drums- Copeland Other- Boyd Tinsley (violin) Other- Warren Haynes (guitar and vocals) Other Other- Dave! (I know, I cheated. I dont care!)
