I hope they'll be at Bonnaroo this year. I saw them earlier this year and they were fantastic. It sounded like the record, but they brought so much energy to the stage. ANyone else seen them. I would love to hear your review. I wish that RHCP & Gnarls tour was coming through ATL. I would kill to see that
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
I enjoy Gnarls Barkley, but I'm also sick of "crazy" and all the hype. I could sincerely care less if GB is there, so long as dangermouse is in some form or another. Maybe doing a gray album show... illegaly.
that would be insane, a grey album show would be amazing, or perhaps a goodie mob show. i would be down for gnarls barkley jsut because ive heard maazing things about their live show and i love the whole album (the key to not getting tired of crazy was hiding in a cave the first couple months it was out. actually i jsut avoid the radio all together)
I don't really listen to the radio much myself, except for a great little independent station we have here. I think I actually heard it somewhere on the internet first, but who knows.
And while I don't listen to regular radio often, my co-workers do. And it's awful. The same terrible songs, over and over, all day long. I have no idea how they can tolerate it, much less, enjoy it.
I think I'd choke myself with the phone cord if it weren't for Bonnaroo.
I mean, the show would probably be fun, but calling them a rap act is a bit misleading. They're kind of a psych-britpop-r&b act. A lot of Arthur Lee influence on that album.
But yeah, I've heard mixed things. That is to say, people who aren't big fans kind of come away talking about them like a novelty act. Personally, I don't see them as much more.

Hey Moonsky,
I'm in Memphis too...what station are you talking about? It has been so long since I listened to anything other than 730 (sports radio) or a little 92.9 once in a blue moon.

Nah, it's a solid album. Not terribly groundbreaking, but definitely carries the torch set by people like Handsome Boy Modeling School (props to typeoserv for that mention!) and Yohimbe Brothers. Overhyped? Perhaps, but still quality musicians doing some damn fine stuff.

Hey, cool! It's 89.9 wevl. It's non-commercial, funded by listeners, and offers just about everything in music. Check out their web site for a schedule of music because they play different types of music at different times. Some really good ones are Hi Fidelity, UK-Ja Reggae, Night Train, Through the Cracks, & Into the Deep. But I like a lot of the other programming they have also.

I'd like Gnarls Barkley, but Handsome Boy Modeling School would be awesome! I've never heard of Yohimbe (at least not as a band) so I'll have to look into that.

Wow... yes, if you like Gnarls and HBMS, you'll love them. DJ Logic + Vernon Reid? Yes, it's incredible. Get "Front End Lifter".
And once you hear it and fall in love, go to amazon.com because, inexplicably, they have super-cheap used copies of it. I got mine from there and it was in quite good condition.
