Last years Roo performance was one for the ages. One of the best performances at any Roo*. I have seen them quite a few times from 300 person venues to Roo, never let me down.

I saw'em at the Ryman auditorium in Nashville. I cannot possibly emphasize enough how hard they rock, and not just cus they are super talented and have great songs,, it is the effort they pour into their live shows,,, every last drop! When yer watchin'em on stage you can tell they are having a blast, rocking it as it should be rocked.

I had not heard much of their music before seeing them at Roo last year, but they were by far one of my highlights of the weekend. They are an amazing live band. I would be very disappointed if they aren't playing again this year.
Holy mother of gods. They are phenomenal. The Okonokos DVD (and really, the CD's too) is a great example-- in fact the DVD is one of the finest concert DVD's I've ever seen (and I own three dozen).
Yeah....Roo last year was my first time to see them live, and it was amazing. I was drunk and tired and just sat in my lounge chair with my eyes closed and zoned out....I think the late night spot was perfect for them....I was just exhausted and probably half asleep, but it was unforgettable.

Hehe. Here comes the storm!
So cool to hear the memories from MMJ at last year's Roo. Definately brought the late night set to a new level, no?! I am from Louisville and spent the junior high years around a couple of guys in the band. And with this to be their fifth year at Roo.....so f'ing cool the vibe they bring each and every time!!!
Get this - I f'ing SLEPT through their whole set. I remember being there for one or two songs and being so incredibly tired that me and my girlfriend and a few others in our group walked back to the tents and left my other 2 friends there. I can't believe I missed the set, esp since I heard they did a Misfits cover, and I've grown to like them a whole lot since then, I hadn't heard much of their music before going. Anyway, if they play again, I'll be sure not to miss it!

That's classic. A buddy of mine did the same thing....took a ton of mushrooms for the purpose of seeing MMJ and then freaked out and ran to the campsite. They covered the Who, Misfits, Velvet Underground, Stones, the Band and the Flying Burrito Brothers in a set the was over 3 hours and 31 songs....one for the ages!
There's not more I can add without being redundant; however, none of their CD's do them justice. Z is the only one to come close. I've seen them the last 2 Roo's and once at the Riviera up in Chicago at Thanksgiving this year. Each time, I've walked away thinking they are honestly one of the best live bands I've ever seen.
The Roo performance last year was legendary. I was so tired by the end of the show. I kept thinking each song had to be the last one, but they kept on handing him new guitar after new guitar and they just kept going. Truly an amazing experience.
If they aren't back this year, it would be a crime.
Did anybody else see Shooter Jennings in the crowd during the set? I only saw him for the first couple of songs -- he was in the back. I was soooo hoping that he would end up on stage!

Best show of the weekend. Good god am I glad I saw it. I was going into the weekend thinking Radiohead would blow every other band away. While their show was absolutely amazing too, MMJ was better. They just kept f#cking playing. They played at least 45 minutes over their times slot, took almost no set break, and didn't even take an encore break. Just straight rocking till the finish. We started probably about 20 rows (estimated, since their obviously weren't rows) back and to the left, and ended up in the front tenish by the end of the show. What blows my mind is how anyone left that show!!!? I was in a state of shear f#cking joy the entire show. You couldn't wipe the smile off my face during the show, or for about a month or so after Bonnaroo.
After Radiohead on Saturday night, I would have been more than content with going home. It is going to be very very hard to top last year, but one can hope. MMJ will be playing , and they will be playing main stage right before Pearl Jam. I would be willing to bet anyone a whole lot of money on this too. It just makes way too much sense.
Wow, I had no idea people creamed themselves this much over MMJ. Personally I think their shows range from good to really good, but never verging on great. Solid, but I'd rather see who else is on stage at Bonnaroo than see them again.

They put on a good live show, so naturally fans of them are even bigger fans of their shows. I acknowledge their good live sets, but theres still several bands id see if they were playing against them. If they come to your town though, id definatly check them out.

Oh, they're from my town. I've seen them a good 6 or 7 times (Bonnaroos and other fests included). I think they are good sometimes really good. I am just surprised by the amount of people who think they were the best of last year's roo or one of the best live shows they've ever seen. I am happy to see someone else say they wouldn't necessarily drop everything to see them.
edit: I also find it funny to note that my Karma has been the same over most of a year until I have a less than worshipping review of MMJ.
