Is anyone else holding off on buying new music until the lineup comes out? I got a frew CDs for Christmas (Okonos, Bright Eyes - Noise Floor, the new Magic Numbers....all '06 Roo performers...hmmm), but I have been thinking about getting several more CDs but am kind of holding off until the lineup announcement so that I can really focus on those bands over the next few months.
I'm not really holding back, but I'm sure the lineup will impact a lot of my choices. With all the Pearl Jam stuff going around I picked up a cd of a show of theirs in Tokyo from 2003. Also, I'm really hoping Ben Harper is there so I got his new one, and I also got the John Butler Trio after they listed they were playing. I probably wouldn't have heard of the Cold War Kids for a lot longer if I hadn't planned on going to Roo, so when I get their CD soon that will be a big factor.
I always buy 10-15 cds of upcoming 'roo artists every year after the artist announcements. I guess that goes with being obsessed with Bonnaroo. So yeah, I am holding off on cd buying for a couple weeks.

I do as much as I can to hear the best and/or most recent material from artists with whom I'm unfamiliar, but I tend to acquire that music through other means that I perhaps shouldn't discuss on this forum.
Cold War Kids are the free download of the week on Itunes.
Thanks for the heads-up on this one (karma).
Yeah, Cold War Kids is a CD that I will probably buy pretty soon because of them performing at Roo.
I also really like the new Hold Steady (forgot to mention that one) and will likely buy their other albums if they are confirmed (will likely get them anyway but may wait if they aren't playing).
What I usually do is at least check out the previews of confirmed bands on iTunes and then pick up several of the albums.
Is it possible to host some of the cds off this site, or is that completely illegal. I am pretty sure that I know the answer to this, but just asking anyways. Maybe we can do live shows, like we do for the bonnaroo downloads, or is that borderline illegal as well?
I hear the Cold War Kids do a energetic live show. I dl'ed their album, but have not had any time to listen to it yet, since I am still listening to top ten albums from 2006 that were listed on here and other sites, specifically the hip-hop since I guess I have been slacking on my hip-hop this year. The Clipse album and Ghostface have been top notch.

The CWK album has been a topic of discussion among indie fans as early as last fall. At that point there were only a couple songs available for stream or d'load and people were still buzzing. It's a pretty solid record from top to bottom...

I have realized that I spend a around 40-80$ on new music, weekly! For me this is becoming a huge awful/awesome addiction... there is just so much out there that is really really good. Of course this is why I am excited about Roo07, it's looking to be the best yet(hopes&wishes talking). With All the New albums coming out, shins, modestmouse, blocparty, clapyourhands, and so many others i don't know i want yet, all the fantastic music&artists I fell in love with years ago is all coming back around with fresh and amazing new sounds. and new artists are showing up out of freakin nowhere and just beatin it up! It just keeps getting better... and with Bonnaroo coming up, it's all going to be stupid amazing!

Man $40-$80 weekly..your CD library must be huge. You could start up your own radio station with the money you spend ;-)
I am reaaaaly into that cd now. I'm glad they were announced, or else i probably would've never found it.

I really like the CWK album. There's something about listening to an album knowing you can see that band in four or five months that gives it an added magic. Hang Me Up To Dry has such a great hook, it's been in my head for a day and a half now. I also really liked Robbers and God, Make Up Your Mind.
I get the feeling that wherever they play at Bonnaroo, it will be packed, especially if they're playing a tent. Barring a SCI level conflict, I'll be there gettin' down.
My next CD purchase will probably be the Good the Bad and the Queen, who is an act I'm really hoping makes it to Manchester.

all i'm really listening to is the slip and the decemberists, i think they would blow a lot of people away if they both played on the which stage this year
I always start my festival research at eMusic. Even with the limited confirmations so far, eMu already has three artists available. My 2007 list is here and will be updated:

I'm going to do what Ziggy does and get music from every band... I've been the last two years and find myself not sure of who to watch on a few occasions... Not this year... I've already found The Cold War Kids and The Hold Steady so its working so far....
There's definitely a strategic advantage for leaking your attendance early if you're a relatively unknown band. CWK and JBT are in the foreground now because they aren't burried within a list of forty other acts and we're all checking them out.
Personally, I'd love it if Bonnaroo would announce one artist a day. It would greatly increase their web traffic and national coverage plus it would also help to give more attention to the individual acts.
More focused on the topic at hand, yes, I am intending to buy some music as soon as some names are released!
