while it may look good, it may not be exactly what is in store for us, i know there's only a couple jam bands on there, i think we will see it about half jam bands after its all done, which even some of the indie and other bands are pretty good, i am a music fan of most everything except country, rap and classical.
bonnaroo was a jam festival first and while i see the need to change it, i think it should stay at least half jam bands, maybe with bonnaroo buying the farm, i think the deal is almost done, i heard they could do 3 or 4 events a year of that size, maybe that could bring some smaller fests throughout the year that are strictly genre based, could you imagine going to a form of bonnaroo every 3 or 4 months, how awesome would that be!
some of the artists mentioned on wikipedia that i think may have a chance, well, to be honest, i think most all of them have a chance except the doors and nirvana, i would bet on ben harper, the slip, the decemberists, the shins, and maybe even dylan
I figure you're being sarcastic with the Doors being referenced but Riders on the Storm (Doors survivors minus the drummer) are currently touring Europe and implied that they'd be interested in US dates...
Lets keep tab on this and see how close this is from the actual list. None of this seems far fetched, but nothing shocking either.
Wikipedia:
Late Sunday night (1/7/07), an initial lineup announcement apparently leaked onto the internet. The lineup included Bob Dylan, Trey Anastasio, Tom Waits, Gov't Mule, Norah Jones, Pearl Jam,Soundgarden, Ben Harper, My Morning Jacket, Arcade Fire, Modest Mouse, Yo La Tengo, The Decemberists, The Shins, Nirvana, The Roots, John Butler Trio, M. Ward, Band of Horses, Tea Leaf Green, the Hold Steady, TV on the Radio, Lily Allen, Cut Chemist,The Doors, Grizzly Bear, Cold War Kids,The Shrink, Man Man, The Slip, Girl Talk, and Isis (band). More artist announcements are expected in the coming weeks
The thing about wiki is that ANYONE can go in there and edit what it says. If I wanted to add Elvis Presley to the lineup, I could.
That is why wiki is the most unreliable source on the net!
Trust me, I know. I take it like a grain of salt. I think last year half the list was right off of wiki. I think alot of it is guessing, but its fun to speculate as long you don't get your hopes up too high :-)
As great as some of the rumored bands they put up there are, they cant really be trusted. at one point when i checked it said that nirvana and, more specifically, jerry garcia were performing..
Honestly, I half expect the Superfly guys post those to fuck with us. It seem about half of the groups rumored end up being true, a quarter acts playing at other festivals and the other quarter blatant lies.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
the guys at AC definitely spread rumors like no body's business...last year they said there was a new festival coming out called "CheeseSpread"...w/ widespread & string cheese headlining...both company's are full of it...but if i were in them, i'd be starting crazy rumors too...just for fun...haha!
what about jorma kaukonen? he's awesome...but not too jam bandish--more folksy.

That's actually a pretty good idea - plant some rumors out there and see how people react. It's like having the entire internet community as your focus group...

it's like guerilla warfare...with music. hahaha! they wouldn't have such a successful event if they weren't a little bit crafty.

THat reminds me of my buddy who said something about a fest/supergroup named Chili Cheese Dog - consisting of the Chili Peppers, SCI, and Ratdog. hah!
