According to Pollstar, Dispatch is reforming for a show at MSG on July 14th which of course is the first night of 'Roo. They are doing a benefit show for Africa and other stuff like that. But if they are reforming that weekend, what are the odds of them playing at Bonnaroo? I know some people find them too DMB/OARish but they could be a nice draw. Your thoughts??
First night of Bonnaroo is June 14th... you've got the months mixed up.
But getting to your point, I don't think that Dispatch would have a show at Bonnaroo prior to their reunion at MSG, because that would get in the way of the message that's behind their reunion gig. It's not about the money, it's about raising awareness for the conditions in Zimbabwe.
I'd be pretty pumped to see them if they were to play, and there's no doubt that they're a traditional-type 'roo band that would raise some eyebrows if they were in the lineup.
And to me there's nothing wrong with being DMB/OARish - I hope both bands are there
Found this on Jambase...it has the stuff we already know but what i like is the very last statment :
After three years, Dispatch will reunite for two benefit shows billed as Dispatch: Zimbabwe. The concerts will be held at New York's famed Madison Square Garden on July 13 and 14, 2007. All of the proceeds will go towards fighting disease, famine, and social injustice in Zimbabwe. Tickets for Dispatch: Zimbabwe went on an exclusive Myspace.com pre-sale Wednesday, January 10 and sold out in 30 minutes. A second night, July 13 was added to accommodate fans. Dispatch: Zimbabwe has already made history, making Dispatch the first independent band to sell out Madison Square Garden.
All tickets for the July 14 show are sold out, there are only a handful of tickets left for the July 13 show. The band is working to book more dates in July.
So if they are booking more dates why couldnt Bonnaroo be in there
i agree that would be awesome. but as someone said it would be unlikely for them to sell out these benefit shows and then announce they will be playing roo a month before. but hopefully they will decide to do some more shows. maybe next roo. and if they are there they should be a late night. or for my money id take em at headliner. but that is unlikely.

oar has hung out at roo before. although im not that into them. and dispatch is much better then oar. and id love to see them at roo. i think they would be perfect. you named 2 festivals that they would be less likely play. roo has the diverese lineup. but id take dispatch at any festival.
