i wanted to start a post about what the set times will be, most likely the same as in the past, but does anyone think or like the idea of maybe cutting times back a little and adding an extra band or something, bands that headline the what stage get up to like 3 or 4 hours and in the past they all haven't used that time, but some bands use it well like dave and widespread, but with the direction bonnaroo is going could it be possible that we get an extra band on the what and which stages and could they possibly start earlier, here's what i'm thinking for the what and which stages friday thru sunday, by the way i don't work for bonnaroo, i'm just a fan, so when it comes down to it my input really means nothing, but here's what i think:
what stage fri-1-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12 sat-12-1,2-4,5-7, 8-12 sun-12-1,2-4,5-7,8-12
which stage fri-12-1,2-3,4-6,7-9 sat-12-1,2-3,4-6,7-9,12-2am sun-12-1,2-3,4-6,7-9
i think that looks okay, i know bonnaroo is known for long sets, which i love, when the bands use all that time, but if they don't then that just seems stupid
Did the DMB play the full 3.5 hours when they headlined in 2005? I know Tom Petty didn't last year, but Phil Lesh did and Radiohead played the 2 1/2 they were listed as. Interesting idea, I think in the past two years there have only been three acts on the main stage on Friday, including the headliner.
I'm not sure exactly how long DMB played but I can tell you that their show needed three discs. I haven't listened to all of it in a while and I pulled it out on the highway last night -- I really enjoyed that set.
It's always disappointing when the "headliners" don't fill up that slot, especially when you know that another band could have filled that space. Hopefully we get three gamers this year!
