So the question is, if SCI's final show was at Bonnaroo, would it be enough for them to be a headlining spot?
Personally, I think so. They are huge in the jam community, and could be the last show on Sunday, cycling in tons of guest to come out and jam with them. The Sunday headliners have always seemed to be big jambands (Dead, WSP, Lesh) with not so much mainstream appeal - I would see SCI fitting right in with that description.
I think they would put on some incredible sets to close out the fest as well as close out their amazing run -
I also think they can headline a Sunday night..but any other night the highest they could be is a co-headliner with a 2 hour set. If they really want to go out with a bang they would do a late night set with keller coming into the frey sometime during the night.
I dont know. I think if it was advertised as their final performance, then they could headline. The only risk they'd run with that is that a good number of SCI fans would pay the 180 just to see the Cheese. That's not that bad, since by and large I think they enjoy all kinds of music. However, for some if the lineup hasn't tipped back towards jam, then you could have a bunch of bored souls at the festival who just don't get along with Pearl Jam. Whatever. It's early and I'm not really thinking straight.
I think the sunday night headliner as a whole is an interesting subject. SCI is a big maybe. Widespread could do it, but it's been done many times before. Ratdog isn't big enough, I really doubt Phil doing it again, even if he was healthy. The DMB doesn't really fit the spot. Who am I missing?
Maybe they could headline Thursday night, since it looks like the Roo is going to make Thursday a little more filled out. But I dont think that they are big enough (in name) to headline one of the main nights.
Yeah, I was just going to bring that up. There really hasn't been a whole lot of talk about Roo adding another headliner on Thursday, but I think this could possibly be the biggest move of the year. SCI would fit very nicely into that slot IMO.
Yeah, I was thinking a SCI, Ben Harper, Robert Randolph, MMJ, or something like that for a Thursday night headliner. A band that most people would be happy seeing, but most people will also not be super-pissed if they missed out on it if they get there on Friday.

I think a lot of people would be mad if they missed out on any of those bands^, especially mmj with their infamous bonnaroo shows. I think you put an sci and guests show on sunday night and it could definatly fly.

Cheese could definately do it. It wouldn't be their last show though as they've promised another red rocks which is normally in July. Personally, I think cheese would be a super exciting closing act, especially given the awesomeness of their last few shows.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

yes string cheese could definitely headline sunday night, one of the best live shows i've ever seen, only been listening to them for like 2 years, wish i woulda started like 10 years ago, saw them at acl and stubbs, incredible, but they are bonnaroo, they need one last bonnaroo, but i see them playing right before widespread panic on sunday night, they should play the which stage saturday night like trey in 2005

I enjoy SCI. That being said, no, I don't think they could ever headline something as big as 'Roo, even if they're popular with the jamband community. After last years headliners, I think the headliner spot will be reserved for legends, a la Phil Lesh/Tom petty, and bands that are well-known/well-liked in almost all crowds/approaching legend status/probably have cults worshipping them, such as Radiohead. Just my opinion.

Yes, I'm starting to see the light on this one too. Seeing as SCI will probably be doing one last Red Rocks run AFTER 'Roo, there is very little chance they will be a headliner. If 'Roo was the last performance of SCI ever, then I could see it being a headlining performance, but all things considered they will probably have a lesser role than headlining.
i think sci could do it for sunday. alot of the visitors might leave sunday afternoon. but i like that. and i think anyone who is into string cheese will have plenty to choose from at roo. you have to be into music to even know about sci. and i also think jam fans would have a much easier time with pearl jam (if they are even there. the pj fans never give up ) then radiohead. imo sci incident is , better, current, on their last tour and more apporpriate than pj to headline roo. i too was into pearl jam. 10 years ago. and i would love to see them at roo. but they should have a bob dylan/steve winwood slot. i mean really. should pj headline when dylan/willie nelson/ allman bros/black crowes/james brown didnt get headline slots??? no way they should headline, imo. but i understand the need for roo to have a headliner that has a massive/more mainstream appeal to draw in more people. but dave can fill that roll. and i think dave and trey would be a better fit. even if it isnt new. my best guess is pj plays the mainstage before a headliner and sci plays a late night. which is fine by me. for me the latenights are a second headliner. especially last year.

No SCI wouldnt headline Bonnaroo, definatly tent or late night, mabe the main stage if it was Keller williams Incident, kinda like the Word in 2005 right before panic. They played Which stage in 2004
^^^I think the moe. slot or The Word slot is where SCI would fall. Sunday is all about long, jam oriented sets on the What Stage, and while I don't see SCI fitting the headliner mold, I definitely see them getting that opening slot for the primetime headliner on Sunday.
dudewhere'smyroo and ziggyandthemonkeys are right.
You can put them on sunday headliner for sure, but with guest appearances. You put the right legends up there with an established jamband that many have not seen and will want to see for the first time, it will work.
Not to mention I fully disagree that there music lacks the tools needed to rock the 'roo. In fact I think they would destroy a show like that. I have seen the Cheese well in the double digits and they have come with the absolute sickness.
You can't tell me it matters that much on the last show of the festival from a monetary standpoint as far as AC is concerned, and it won't affect the mood of people coming back next year as long as they are not there again, which obviously they won't.
I would LOVE NOTHING MORE than to see the Incident go out with a bang on the east side at Bonnaroo. (As they will definitely do Red Rocks before they're done)
I can't wait another month for the lineup. IT'S KILLING ME!!!
Don't get me wrong, if they play a late night set, I will still be fired up, down front, dancin my ass off!
i bet that they won't be in the initial line-up but then show up for superjam. that'd be something ac/superfly would throw us for...i mean, seriously...they'd be stupid not to invite the cheese to play one of their last shows at bonnaroo.

Yeah, I could see them being one of the first round of additions, kinda like Oysterhead or the Disco Biscuits additions last year which made the jam fans happy after there was some initial outrage to the more "indie" line-up that came out. They would announce it in as an addition, as them doing a special late night show with guests, or something along those lines.
does anyone know how many bands were announced with the intitial line up last year, and then how many were added throughout the countdown to the festival?

its their attempt to keep ALL of us little people happy.
If Widespread can headline 2 nights in a row there is no reason SCI could not pull it off. I can easily see SCI ripping it up for 3 1/2 hours on Sunday night. They would be perfect and they would run several guests out on stage. It would be a killer closer for the roo!

its only right for cheese to be there this year, i think the jamband fans and community would more than love it if SCI got one last roo, they are at the top with widespread in the jamband scene, and with how much WSP has played, SCI hasn't played as much, they an alternate to WSP, as good as WSP, just they are more roots and bluegrass and they deserve it
String Cheese isn't as big a draw as Panic though. Especially when you look at where Bonnaroo is located, which is very close to Panic homeland (the South). String Cheese doesn't play as big of venues as Panic either. I'm more of a String Cheese fan than Panic but the Cheese isn't as big a band as the traditional 'Roo headliner. They could maybe make a case for it though since it would be one of the last shows. Either way it would be cool if they played. I think a latenight gig would be better. Gives them more time to throw down a killer show.

they need something like umphrey's>disco biscuits like last year, maybe keller and the keels>keller solo and with guests(his new album has a lot of guests i've heard)>kwi>but finish with just sci, and here's the best part-they should play from midnight to 6am, i don't think 12-4 is enough time

what about xm or sirius, i've had xm for a year now and have discovered many many bands on some channels, it sucks they did away with the jam band station, now sirius has it, i'm thinking about getting that, plus it has the nfl, i think i'll start making a list of all the bands i hear each day, emerging and veterans, i wish radio bonnaroo was available year round, on like xm or sirius or just on something, nationwide, if any bonnaroo officials read this please consider this, this would be so awesome, i am an obsessed bonnaroo fan who thinks about it year round, i know we can listen to it on the web, i don't have a cell phone, so i don't really know if you can listen on cell phones, but it would be so awesome to hear it on like a normal radio or something
