I saw that guy get up there and jam with him, I would like to think that was real But what that kid played was a toatally flawless jam. On a new song off an album that hasnt been released yet. So I have my suspicions to weather it was real or staged. If it was real I would say fahk yeah that dude can play a guitar.

I know that they do that at a lot of their shows. One time i saw them one guy got up there and was so sweet he went on their next tour with them. At one of the shows from the tour with the random guy they let some guy on stage and he totally sucked. So i'd have to say that wasnt planned, and that guy was really indeed sweet.
I went to see Galactic in atlantic city, nj last night... the guy who plays sax (I forget his name) brought up his 16 year old cousic from chicago who also plays sax (alto). that kid fu.ckin jamed!!! the whole crowd was goin nuts.. that's so awesome bands are doin that. It's gotta make the kids feel so good about their playing.
Devendra Banhart does something similar (and continued the tradition at Roo) where he invites anybody who writes their own songs onstage to perform and the DB band slowly builds up in accompaniment. The guy at Roo looked thrilled and performed a rollicking little tune of his own -- it's a really neat moment.
