I'm kind of late on the lip balm ideas, but this is one of my clients at work, and it is BY FAR the BEST lip balm I have ever used. All of his products are 100% natural and he raises his own bees for the beeswax. Check it out - this is a link straight to the lip balm, but he has other stuff

I straighten my hair, but at Roo I'll be wearing it curly. It says you can style the feathers like real hair. I'm not sure if anyone will know this, but if I curl them to match my hair, will they uncurl when I wash my hair? I don't want straight feathers in curly hair.

I don't actually know, but I suspect the feathers might uncurl when washed. Just like straight hair that's been curled (or curly hair that's been straightened) will revert back to it's natural state when washed. But I'm just guessing.

I'm guessing they will straighten, so I would come up with a back up plan.. Like maybe get the clip in ones and curl it before you go and take it out when you wash your hair.. Or bring a curler or a travel flatiron or curling iron to quick style that one spot. I suggest the SS dash flatiron. It's small enough to product a tight curl.
That's what I was thinking about doing as well; it just seems safer. We are planning on having the best, most amazing time at Bonnaroo, and losing my ring in the process certainly doesn't equal amazing to me.
I shall just find an epic replacement ring for zeeee weekend
I have naturally curly hair and am planning on getting some feathers (tomorrow is payday ). But for for festies I plan on doing what I always do at festies when it comes to maintenance: saying "whatevs" and skipping off into wonderland to have some fun.
If it involves more than throwing on a dress and rubbing some tinted sunscreen on my face, it aint happening

They don't hold a curl long, and would definitely straighten after you wash your hair.

they don't really "hold curl" but if you have them in for a little while, they tend to morph with your natural hair texture...mine are kind of wavy-ish right now but i've had them in for a couple of months

My local salon does this and after reading about it here and seeing some pics, I was all set to go get some feathers! After reading online about how easy it is to do at home - I am going to give it a go and do it myself! I already pay them a ton of money every two months for fire engine red highlights - I don't need to pay them any more for something that I can easily do myself!! I'll report back soon with results...

I ordered my feathers from eBay. That's the cheapest option that I found. Here's the link the seller's items...
I wanted to show what the pendant would look like on a completed necklace.(almost.. No clasps in the photo..) I had some beads left over from other stuff, so it's my festival necklace with an explosion of my favorite colors.
I could number the pendants, but it's still up in the air what I'll do with them. I have made a total of 20 now. I hope to hear back from the festival about fundraising, so I don't even know if I can officially sell these or not. If I can't I may just give them out to my friends who are coming and to new friends at the inforoo brunch as an extra surprise. We shall see though.
And thanks for the link on the feathers. I thought they were kind of cool when i first saw them, and the more posts I see about them the more I want them. So I was looking for a cheap way to try them for the festival.
Thanks for the link! I ordered from there as well (they were the cheapest I could find!) but I was waiting until I got them to post about the quality, etc.
I looked around a good bit online and noticed that people are charging an arm and a leg for some of the extension materials.
Some tips: 1. I got the extension "crimps" at Sally Beauty Supply - they were on sale for 9.99 for 100
2. I also got my little hook/hair puller from Sally for around $3 (I also saw some DIY blogs where people were using hair pins to pull the hair through the crimp ring but this looked easier)
3. You do NOT need special pliers - any will do...I have a bunch of tiny ones that I use for jewelry making that I'm using
I'm on a mission now to find these feathers for cheaper so I can get a bunch of colors....I know you can get them at fishing supply/outdoors stores b/c they're used in fly tying...however apparently this mad rush for feathers has the shelves cleared! The fishermen/women don't know what to do now that teens and crazy ladies are snatching up all their feathers, lol...
I've seen some really ridiculous pricing online - just because they're a trend right now does not mean you should pay $25 for a tiny bunch of 3 feathers...so if anyone finds good deals/good selection on just the feathers, let us know!
On the subject of dry shampoos... I've got super dry hair and scalp, so I don't typically have an issue to where I would need anything.. But anyway, I've used a tiny bit of baby powder after workouts where I don't get to wash my hair immediately after, and it does basically what the dry shampoo does. I read that the dry shampoos are basically powder clay or something like that (don't remember) but my question is have any of you used a dry shampoo when you knew you would be around a black light? I have always wondered if any white tint would show up. I know at my church once they drew a fish symbol on the back of our hand with detergent and water and it glowed under the blacklight even though you could not actually see the particles otherwise.
for those of you who already have the feather hair extensions, how do they hold up to brushing/washing/etc. I know all of the sites say they last for weeks, but I was just wondering if the bead snags in your brush or anything like that?
I know this is on here somewhere, but I'm not finding it... gonna go grab some bike shorts for under skirts/dresses this weekend. What length do y'all recommend? The skirts I have are right at the knee.
(Finally coming out of hiding after two ridiculous months!)

I haven't, but I can spray some in my hair and plug in my black light when I get home tonight.
I just found out a few new uses for aquaphor.. I have some I put on when I get sunburned in conjunction with aloe and lidocaine..(great for bonnaroo- doesn't clog pores and used to be prescription only.. Doctors recommend it to chemo patients and after plastic surgery all the time) but the uses I discovered today are razor burn and lip balm and as a base under concealer. I use the cvs brand... I would highly recommend grabbing a tube before you go. It would help with sun, chapped lips, and razor burn if you shave in less than ideal conditions.
And bike shorts.. I got a pair at walmart that were called mid length that are good. I asked a similar question before- 5 inches is about as short as you would want to go. 7 inches is good, and anything longer is fine, but may be hotter or show with shorter skirts.

I did this last year and it works great! I made sure I got some that were a little longer, not knee length but not booty shorts either. Enough to cover my thighs where it would rub. I got mine at Academy Sports. I also wore a dress when I went to try on. Bike shorts are fabulous because you have the coolness of a sundress/skirt and you can flop down and not worry about everything showing!

at first it just takes some getting used to when brushing, i learned to avoid that little spot, but no biggie. mine have been in since early march and i've washed, dried, curled and even got a hair cut and they are still hanging in there! in fact, i'm going to get my girl to move them up for me (they will grow out, slide down with your hair growth, etc) so i can keep them in longer

This. I was thinking of doing the clip in ones from Sephora, but my friend has a friend that does the long term kind. She buys her feathers at Cabelas!
So I decided to go with the long term ones. She charged me 15. I know my salon is 22. It was so quick too. She used a small loop, pliers, and a pair of scissors to trim the ends that she pulled through. I love them! I have a bundle of four, red, turquoise, black, and white. They are a subtle way to add fun color to your hair, especially if you have a conservative job.
I guess my concern would be... well, don't boxer briefs have the "manly hole" in them? I mean, it would be nice to have a little extra breeze through my nether-region, but I'd probably be more concerned about that hole than chaffing....
The way I see it is that it would be perfect for the PStyle I've got on it's way!
Just got out of michael's (I was dragged out kicking and screaming because I could spend all day and all my paycheck there if left alone), and I got some peacock and pheasant feathers and leather to make my own version of the feather hair extrnsions.. I'll share if they turn out well.
