Awwww mayonaise, I'm sorry to hear about the break-up. You should come camp with us for roo! Although I'm not entirely sure who "us" is - my friend Max says he's going, but I've heard that before, haha. But if he goes then I'm hoping maybe he'll want to try to meet up with jhointn and co. so we can be one big happy campsite.
Edit: oh, eek. I kinda hate being the first post on a new page, but on the plus side I'm really glad we've finally HIT the new page. Is it just me or did it seem like we were stuck on that last page for WAY too long?! ;D

TOTALLY! Plasticpepper, Mayo and myself... we could have a GFT campsite!!! Maybe with a few boys. But only if they promise to behave themselves and understand it's definitely a GIRLY camp

Aaaand I'm back. I never did too much posting last spring, and may not this year either, but I read all the time!
I'm so pumped for next June already- you learn so much after your first Roo that just can't be learned in a message board ;-)
Right now I'm studying for the semester in Sweden, so it's ridiculous to try to think of how hot the Tennessee summer is.
I love the idea of a GFT camp and buttons and everything! People will be jealous.
Some plans/goals to get/do by next June: Tutu. All White Costume (I went to www.sensation.com in Copenhagen a few weeks ago and it was incredible, so I want to honor that memory.) Find the best bag ever - big enough, comfy to carry and adorable. Practice or discover something better to do with my hair the third and fourth days...
I haven't been back on this forum since Roo. I had an amazing time. I'm still trying to decide if I'm going again. But if I do, I need to decide how I'm shielding myself from that Tennessee sun. I got so sunburned on Friday that I was unable to attend any day shows the rest of the time. I literally had blisters covering my shoulders.
So what I'm trying to figure out is what fabric I could use to create a shawl of some kind. I saw a girl who was extremely fair like myself who had one. I didn't ask her what it was made of because I wasn't burned yet. Go fig. So if anyone has any ideas, toss em at me.
Thanks ladies. Hope you had a great time, as well.
Candice
Hey Candice, I'm a fair-skinned girl too, and I used a tie-dye sarong as a shawl after I got burned the first day of Roo (seriously, I don't know why I ever think I can skip the sunscreen ) On the warmer days, I'd wet it down before putting it on and it really helped me cool off, too.
thanks for the support my ladies! i super appreciate the GFT camp invites too
I am definitely making buttons. So keep that one in your pockets. Im also considering (if i can find the ad) doing the Festaxi thing... drive around all weekend and make a little moola... but we'll see what the lineup looks like. If the line up is too good, I'll forgo "working" and definitly be down for partying it up! GFT style!
And speaking of GFT style, I just moved, and was essentially forced to take inventory of my closet.... my "roo" dress collection is vastly out of hand... and yet somehow, i desparately want a tutu for this year, and yesterday at Target, i scoured the 75% off racks looking for "roo" dresses. What is wrong with me?!?!?! I can't believe it's already Thanksgiving, and Roo Maddness will begin in just one short month...Yay!
And happy Thanksgiving to all my GFT! eat turkey (or tofurkey) and be merry! Loves you gals!

i love the button idea i almost think you could make your money hauling people to and from centeroo early in the day between 10 and 1 or so...that way you could then enjoy your own shows. maybe you could make a few more runs when it gets busy before the headliners. i wouldnt want to be stuck driving the whole time but it seemslike some of the slamming times would work out...it might also be fun to drive people around REALLY late night - and see some of the "sights " ahahahah
what would you do with the "taxi" when you were at shows?
Hi ladies! I bought a wedding dress yesterday! I really want to post it and share because it is sooooooo beautiful, but m fiance is super sneaky. If anyone wants to see it, send me a PM and I'll link ya. It's a Sottero and Midgley design and very fairy-esqe. I'm super excited! Yaaayyyy!
what would you do with the "taxi" when you were at shows?
There is a camp for all the taxi drivers down in the BFE camp (Pod 1) - they essentially have their own fenced in area with portapots and showers, and you can just park the taxi next to your tent! It seems like such a sweet set up... but i wouldnt want to risk missing my shows if i had to "work"... so Im still deciding if it's a worthy idea. We shall see.
Hope everyone has a brilliant and SAFE new year's! Remember, starting next week - the speculation and the desparate wait for the line up begins! WooT!

I don't know if any of you are a size Small (0-2) but I'm hoping to go through my closet next week and start putting up clothes on ebay. They'll mostly be sundresses, but I may throw in a few accessories if I feel brave enough to tackle those drawers.
Hey lovely ladies!!!!! This will be my very first 'roo experience. Do the ladies mostly wear sundresses, shorts, tanks, and bathing suits? What other items do you recommend? Like handbands etc. Also do lots of girls dress up for the parade? what do they wear besides fairy costumes? Is there one particular item that you think every girl should be sure to bring? Thanks you guys! i'm soooo excited! <><
you can wear what you want.... i wear shorts and bikini tops a lot.. you will want a sweat shirt or jacket for night time. bring pants or jeans for night as well in case its cool. a lot of girls wear sundresses. i think the key is to be comfy and to bring some extra stuff and prepare for all weather. be sure and bring shoes that can weather mud etc.
I'll definitely let you know when I get my things up on ebay...forgot I have some obligations coming up this week, so it might be a few days until I'm able to press, photo and post!

I find sundresses to be the most comfortable way to go.
I would say the most important thing is good footwear - i talked my 2 friends into buying Keens for Roo last year and they were so happy they did. Also, rain boots if there is rain in the forecast. They were a lifesaver this year!
^agreed! Also, bring a pair of bike shorts. Even if you don't think you'll need them, bring them anyway! They will save your life if the chub-rub sets in. I learned this the hard way
ps for shoes, I am a fan of crocs and Tevas. Crocs may be ugly, but they are comfy! Comfy takes precedence over cute when in 100 degree weather for 4 days.
Thirded on sundresses...and they make the portapotty experience that much easier!
I finally broke down this year and bought a pair of Keen's. I still think they are chunky-looking as hell, but they are seriously the best festival shoe!

I shamelessly promote Old Navy consistently because I work there, and they ALWAYS have cute cute sundresses and stuff. I usually have coupons to offer when the time gets closer. Target also has tons of cute dresses. I always get a pair of really comfortable cotton shorts, because some mornings, I just throw those on until midday or so. Annnnd I swear by bandanas. They keep your head from burning.. and OUCH that hurts.
sundresses, no denim during the day, boxer shorts, bathing suit, hats and bandanas to cover dirty hair. And a sweater, it really does get super cold at night time.
I recommend wearing a sundress or skirt with shorts underneath. This helps with comfort when sitting on the ground and dancing. Also, when it is hot and your bare legs rub together while walking around all day, you will be grateful to not have that sore chaffing!
2009 Concerts and Festivals: Hookah in the Hills, Bonnaroo, Greatfulfest at NLQP, Whispering Beard Folk Festival, Terrapin Hills, Ghostland Observatory
What fun items are cool to bring? Things like wings, boas, and glitter, etc. What things have seen that were really cool? Please help the newbie get creative! <3
