Trying to get a email list of people that will be attending this year 2005 - we have some issues with access this year that are not being addressed correctly by the mgmnt. Want to be able to get as many as possilble to address this situation
What kind of problems are you having? It's been my experience that the Bonnaroo folks do what they can to respond to questions. Obviously with 90,000 people they can't always address every issue. You said you are having issues with access? Maybe if you could let us know what the problems are, it might be something that someone on the board has had experience with.

Here is just part of a thread from another board on the issue we are having - it has still be basically answered as you will have to cut across the main stage crowd to get to the VIP bleachers and tent. Not cool at all. Let as many VIP's know as possible and be vocal to the shows producers through emails and such - otherwise we have a bunch of us that will be very vocal when we show up to the festival

I have had VIP for the past two years and last year was extremly disappointed when we had to go the whole way across the main stage field to get to the food tent and bleachers. The first year we had easy access from the camp to both Centaroo and also our food tent and bleacheres by going on the road behind the main stage. I would like to see if you can answer if we will have the same issues againg this year or if you can direct me to the person who will be running VIP this year to clarify the question. I have someone that attends with me thats has some mobility issues and would like to know ahead of time. Thanks ---------

Due to safety regarding festival attendees and vehicular traffic, we cannot have anyone on the roads backstage. Therefore the layout will be similar to last year. After careful analysis and feedback, we have determined most of the VIP patrons enjoyed the food area where it was, rather than at the other VIP tent near the VIP camping area.
We do appreciate your feedback and are doing our best to offer a great VIP package.

The backstage production road is too narrow with 18 wheelers, fork lifts and other heavy machinery going in each direction.

The entrance to VIP at the mainstage was open some of the time last year. It will be a major disaapointment to me if it is not open all the time this year. If it's not open all the time this year, it will be my third and last Bonnaroo. Further, as far as I know, there has been no forum to poll last year's VIP users, so saying most folks were satisfied is baloney.

We received over one hundred messages w/ feedback regarding the VIP program. After reviewing, we did the best we could to accommodate. The main stage VIP area will only be open when the main stage is open.

I started this thread so I figured I would jump back in- you basically got feedback from about 100 people out of how many VIP's??!! 100 people giving feedback is small for what has been at VIP the past 2 years. I see where you may have issues on the road back stage but all of the press people and festival guest have access to that road with no problem. It was no big deal in 2003 when we were camped VIP behind the main stage. Also one major issue last year was that we had a VIP point of contact person that we saw maybe Thrusday nite and after that were basically left with a chalk board to ask questions which were never responded to especially after the rain. My suggestions : Have a VIP section for the message board and have whoever will be in charge of the VIP area to monitor it and respond from now until the festival. Make sure the VIP liason stays in the VIP area for most of the fest - at least have him check in every couple hours and make sure people know when he is there. We had to rely on the security people last year to ask questions that they clearly had no knowledge of. Seeing the guy once or twice then never again really showed the lack of concern for the VIP patrons after the fest started. Make sure that someone is there to clear the shower drains so the showers dont back up. Basically what I am saying is that the lack of support for the VIP area last year for questions, help, and just basic consideration was extremly poor.As the previous post stated this will be my last year at both VIP and the fest if some of thses itens are not taken care of. I have been to VIP areas at other festivals and you actually are taken care of !!! Once again though access to the Main stage VIP area should be from the road behind the main stage. You do not really have VIP access when you have to walk across and through the entire main stage crowd.If needed make a small walk area or direct people the same way the press and guest get around behind the stage

I agree with the previous post. Moving the fence over a few feet to create a walkway between the VIP camping area and the VIP food area should be a no brainer. Having to tromp through 50 feet of ankle deep mud (thats just the path between the two mains stages) to get from one side of centeroo to the other just to grab a bite was a pain. There was more than enough room to move the fence a bit and make a path for VIP if my memory serves me correctly.
Thanks for cutting 'n' pasting that extensive discussion. We decided to do VIP this year after slogging through the fecal earth chowder that became of the area between the stages; and now see that that will not help! (We have posted our vociferous opposition to AC. Superfly, et al...will advise on outcome).
Because you are experienced w/ VIP would you answer a question: did VIP have a separate vieweing area at the tents as well? (to the left or right of the stages?)
There are bleachers on the left of the main stage - if you are looking straight at the stage- that are for VIP. The first year I was there they had us camping directly behind the main stage and we were able to enter those bleachers from behind. Last year they had us camping in a area to the right of the second biggest stage - forgot the name. So instead of going around the back of the main stage to get to the VIP bleachers and tent you had to cut through the main stage crowd. Instead of trying to work my way through the meat of the crowd I generally just stayed on the right of the main stage or worked my way up front. It just doesnt seem correct to charge the extra cost and have no easy access to the VIP bleachers other then slogging through the main crowd
Well, it looks as if B'roo has gottn too big to allow camping behind main; and it seems as if they'll be taking items away from VIP i/o adding.
What about VIP areas at the tents?
And how far to rickshaw parking?
(Folks--just so you know, I'm doing VIP only because I turned 44 today and have a cu$hy job; can't deal with the parking hassle, and intend to make up the difference with the $2 beers and food. NO WAY I would've gone VIP in my teens, even if I could have afforded it. I recall once meeting a girl who had a case of 24 pre-recorded [storebought] cassette tapes once in college and I was shocked at the extravagance!)

Didnt stay late for the Dead- was over checking out late nite sets by other bands. I heard that this happened on and off during the festival. Basically it was due to security not knowing what was going on. Last year the official word was no access to VIP bleachers any other way then going across the main stage field. There was no official back stage/road access to the VIP main stage tent.
This is the issue - if you want to get to the VIP bleachers and tent in the main stage area you will have to go the whole way across in fromt of the main stage. Now the issue here is not that we have problems mixing with non VIP's - I spend most time of my main stage shows in the front of the stage. The issue is that if you want to just go to the VIP bleachers or go to the tent where they have the VIP food you must cut across the mass of people in front of the main stage. This can take a long amount of time especcially during some of the bigger acts. The first year you just had to walk behind the stage to get to the VIP main stage area.
If you have VIP tix make your concerns heard by emails to the promoters
visit www.sherpa.com where you can browse sherpas by both pictures and attributes. I'd recommend one with strong "conditions training" as you never know what you might run into.
