I dont usually rank sets like this but i had a lot of free time earlier to think on it lol. also ranked this based on enjoyments so for ones i was very far for like Megan or had severe soundbleed like BCNR docked them a bit when they would have been higher.

My ranking has actually been recorded live in my notes app, whenever I see a show I add it wherever it feels right. I plan to keep up the unedited ranking for the whole year, then with the benefit of hindsight rerank how I feel about them later.
1. U2 at Sphere 2. Joanna Newsom at Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever 3. Dead & Co. at Sphere 4. Madonna at the Forum 5. Vampire Weekend at the Hollywood Bowl 6. Kraftwerk at Disney Hall

Man, I miss the days when my shows seen list for the year would already be in the high 20s or 30s at this point (RIP those years I'd see 27 sets over 3 days of GovBall, alone).
Here's my list so far. It is short. And it's sure to change when September rolls around, as that is when everybody and their mother is playing NYC.
1) Sleater-Kinney at Brooklyn Steel 2) Neil Young & Crazy Horse at Forest Hills Stadium 3) Lucius at Brooklyn Steel 4) Tool at MSG (would've been up a couple notches with a slightly different set list they played at other stops on the tour) 5) Carly Rae Jepsen at Governors Ball 6) Nation of Language at Bowery Ballroom 7) The Killers at Governors Ball 8) Young Fathers at Brooklyn Steel

I'm weird about mid-year lists, so for now I'll just say my favorite show moment so far this year was when Carrie Brownstein instructed us all to storm the platinum pit at the Sleater-Kinney Wiltern show after repeatedly commenting how the main GA area was way rowdier than the pit up front with all the rich people. That poor one security guard was no match for the lesbian stampede.
Honorable mentions: Feist, Blur, Rosali, St. Vincent

Havent seen as much as usual but In no order my top 5 so far is:
Frank Turner- last leg of the tour and they went bonkers. brought me back in after disconnecting for years.
Snacktime- i see these guys literally all the time as they play like every Philly event but they headlined NYE and played a 2 hour set that was just absolutely perfect.
Of Montreal- only know a few songs but got free tix and it was exactly as weird as i hoped it would be. they played the perfect venue here too which added to it all.
Umprheys McGee- played a smaller venue than normal so they were a bit limited with production but man it didnt matter. i dont think i ever locked in as hard as i did on a few of the songs during the 2nd set. truly mesmerizing stuff.
Poolside- finally a covid make up show. they really set the vibe from the start and nailed the setlist for my tastes (just wish they played Heat)
