Would it be okay to share an app I've developed for Bonnaroo that I believe offers some improvements over the official one? I’ve put a lot of effort into creating a mobile app for us festival-goers, aiming to enhance our experience with features like real-time updates and a more user-friendly interface. I see it as a labor of love rather than just a side project. Do you think it would be helpful to offer this alternative, or is it better to just stick with the official resources?
Well first and foremost we're focusing on having it work seamlessly offline, to at least receive notifications when your favourites join the stage and at what stage.
Plus our biggest effort was in the visualisation of the Schedule, we made it a basic calendar view the same that you have on Google Calendar, iCal or Microsoft Teams calendar, the same layout

the day before i leave for the festival i always print out the 20XX Lineup Discussion Thread. i staple it together and keep it in my backpack so i can reference it whenever necessary. you can't always get a telephone signal on the farm.

Yea but we load all the lineup + schedule + favorite artists on the cache so you don't need a signal for it, does it make sense?

My concern of course is what permissions it requires, how our data is supposedly used, how our data is actually used, and how the app is monetized. It looks usable but because there is a ticket link in one of the pics and it doesn't look like something someone hacked together or preexisting code that was repurposed just for the hell of it, I'd like to know what I might be getting into before installing.
Hmm, I checked out the website and in the language dropdown there is no choice for American, only British, and I can't support anything using the Union Jack - too soon! I'm not going to Glastonbury and have concerns that this will work in the Central time zone. I do talk Mexican but I don't see a Mexico version either.

Hey, thanks for your concerns, allow me to answer your questions:
1. What permission the app requires? - We ask for notification permissions as it's useful for you to get notifications when your favorite artists join the stage; to access your photos - so you can put a profile picture; location services - so we know you attended a festival (will be later used in more interesting features). But everything is optional here ofc. 2. How your data is used? - We just collect your email when you login, and we don't collect any sensitive data and we're GDPR compliant, it's all collected to Firebase, for example when you create an account with apple we literally don't have anything about you, not even the email. 3. How the app is monetized? - We don't monetize it yet, we've been building it for 1 year already and just launched it 2 months ago, we plan to give everything for free even to festivals, we need to see it being used and liked by our users before we come up with a pricing plan (it will be focused on a freemium plan and also more on festivals) 4. Ticket button - this is something I'm adding manually, nothing shady or hacked, it's the link of each festival's ticketing page, we don't earn anything from it, you can check also the url there's no tag inside. 5. Languages on the website - The British flag is used as a general symbol for the English language, sorry if you were offended by it but it's not related to UK in any way, I'll try to be more inclusive and add more languages in time too, same for Mexican and Spanish, I've focused on adding few languages for now, more will come in time. 6. Will this be in the Central time zone? - Yes when we are creating the festival we are adding the festival's current Timezone, nothing related to UK again!

Yea GPDR forces us to handle privacy data more carefully in the EU, but that doesn't mean we're doing less in the USA just because GDPR doesn't apply there.
