In case anyone is interested, badbadnotgood has released 3 new EPs in the last 3 weeks. And that doesn't include the project they did with Baby Rose a short time before that.
They’re also on the new Stop Making Sense tribute doing an excellent version of “This Must Be the Place” with Norah Jones.
Upcoming Shows: 11/8 - Goose @ The Andrew J. Brady Center 11/13 - Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros w/ The Wolfpack & The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra @ Cincinnati Music Hall 2/14 - Alan Walker @ The Fillmore Detroit 4/15 - Ben Folds w/ The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra @ Cincinnati Music Hall

older but they also have an album of turnstile remixes that is incredible
I know we've talked about this a bunch but seriously what does is someone supposed to do during this section. I'm gonna be running around like a madman
Four Tet right in the middle of everything makes this difficult. If I skip Four Tet I'd still be running around but at least I can check out Badbadnotgood and CRJ. Ashnikko was fun at Coachella, definitely recommend catching that set.

I've given up on having preferences there and will just follow my friends (you)

Haven't stopped thinking about this since it came out. Ashnkko doesn't have a place in this convo for me, but every other one that you marked does.
Thought #1 - Four Tet is the only set here that can truly compete to be #1 of the weekend. Go with the highest ceiling opportunity.
Thought #2 - Coming out of Armand Hammer > Irreversible Entanglements, won't I just want to carry on the vibe with BBNG and Yves Tumor? That is a hell of a 4-show run.
Thought #3 - Won't Chappell into CRJ clearly be the most iconic and joyful opportunity available here?

Just finally got around to the new Maggie Rogers album, def a bit sleepier than her first two. Has a very VH1 late 90s Lilith vibe…was pretty shocked to see it debuted at #48 on the chart a couple months ago.
You have to think roo was banking on this record really blowing up for her with that placement.

yeah it's a total indie snoozefest for me. Easy skip

My thought process is something like:
When the lineup dropped, it would have been chappell 100% the whole time no doubt. But I've seen her twice now in better settings than an overflowing tent. So I'll probably hang for half and then go to BBNG. But BBNG kinda feels like GSYBE where like... is 20 minutes of the set goin to be worth it? Maybe that's an all or nothing set.

Solid analysis. I think I'm going Chappell > most (or all) of Four Tet > Maybe the last half hour of Yves Tumor. My brothers are obsessed with CRJ and will be there. I've already missed BBNG at 2-3 festivals due to conflicts. It feels like this will be a continuation of that.

i know chappell will be crowded regardless, but remember we'll have screens on tents again. The screens make hanging outside a viable option, so it may be slightly less terrible under the tent than we think.

I'll probably be packing my things up at camp after CRJ/Tumor and come back for Fred Again.. and Alison Wonderland to finish my weekend.
Skipping:
Goth Babe: Unfamiliar but not my thing. Megan: Seen and no desire to see again. Galantis: Not in a million years you'll see me there. Two Friends: I have plenty of other friends. Taking Back Sunday: Although perfectly named for this day, no interest.
Maybe:
Jason Isbell: Not really my jam, but seems like a perfect Sunday show. Joey Bada$$: Might see him if I have time, anyone seen him before? Worth it?

on one hand id say prioritize Chappell but on the othwr hand youll have to show up like two sets early to actually see her given shes in a tent

TSHA>BBNG>Four Tet. I’ve seen CRJ after emotions album and never seen BBNG or Four Tet before.

all of this conflict discussion is just telling me that there’s not going to be many people at yves tumor, which is another strong contender for best show of the weekend

talk to me about this. Im worried about a slew of negative reviews you can find online. Reports of completely drugged out erratic behavior, lip syncing, heavy backing track usage. Has me scared because I really want to see them but Im gonna be livid if I miss CRJ and or Four Tet to see the worst show of the weekend.

My plan is to book it to the Carly pit straight from Chappell and probably skip along the whole way

This is EXACTLY my plan as well. Maybe we can hold hands.

I like both of these and am adding them to my list of conflict decision strategies:
1. Go with the one who is more up-and-coming 2. Go with the one you are less likely to see again 3. Go with the one who has the better festival vibe based on watching bits of their festival sets on Youtube 4. Go wherever the wind takes you in that moment 5. Go with the one who has the highest ceiling 6. Go with the most iconic and joyful opportunity

If anyone was waiting for tickets on the secondary market they’re beginning to tank. After fees you can grab one on StubHub just like $385 right now, about a $100 under face. I anticipate these will fall even further because it looks like they’re still not selling at that price and more listing are going up every day.

i think you’re correct about leaning toward not seeing them rather than seeing them. my basis for wanting to see them is their music is awesome and i remember they had an incredible set at pitchfork in 2021 that i watched on stream with a good write up from stereogum.
all that said, i honestly hadn’t looked into what their live show was like within the past year and i’m seeing the same things as you after a quick scan online

backing track doesn't really bother me when vocals aren't that important, yves is sick live imo

1. Always go with the show you can do the most drugs at.
