I think it’s cool how the bottom 2 lines are all local acts getting showcased on their own stage. Just did a quick listen through and some of them are really good.
I would have liked to see some country on the lineup. Avett Bros comes closest but that’s more folk/bluegrass and doesn’t quite scratch the itch. Someone more Turnpike Troubadours or 49 Winchester-esque would have gone a long way towards making this a banger of a lineup for me.
But it’ll be a great time and I’m excited to see lots of these acts, especially Stevie Nicks and Petey Pablo. The Fray was a good late addition too. Can’t beat the value of seeing all these bands right here in town for $200 and change.
Charlotte has never had anything closely resembling a major multi genre fest. And let’s be honest, Charlotte isn’t exactly a cultural mecca. That said, I think they nailed the young Charlotte demo with this and I’d be surprised if this doesn’t sell out.
Personally I’m pretty happy with these artists for $220 (and walking distance from my house no less). I’m still concerned about the venue size & VIP set up. Also, their website says hydropacks aren’t allowed which I really hope gets updated. If they don’t make some adjustments on that & VIP this fest is going to struggle to succeed long term.
I’m out for this one :/ just not enough to like here for my personal tastes to justify a $200+ ticket. Curious to hear how it goes though for those who do go!
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

The Beach Boys, Parmalee, and Happy Landing just added
who and who?
Parmalee is a country band from Eastern NC, I’ve seen them once, they’re pretty good if you’re into 2010s radio country. Happy Landing is a super fun really high energy alt rock band with matching jumpsuits and a fiddle. Saw them open for the Stews a couple months ago and they brought the house down.
They released the updated map and unfortunately made zero changes to the VIP section size. There were understandably A LOT of angry comments on this that they appear to have now deleted.
Additionally, they have not responded to one of the top comments asking if there will be free water in GA. They took the time to confirm there will be water fountains in the VIP section though 😒
Side note, I don’t think I’ve ever seen the level of sponsor posts that this fest has done. I know it’s a different festival landscape in 2024, but I’m really disappointed how they are handling some of these things.
EDIT: They have now un-removed some of the most popular comments. The local Axios is reporting on it as well so I’m hoping there is enough backlash for them to pivot
1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/4: knock2 3/7: Inhaler* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol
They just confirmed no free water. Such an insane decision for so many different reasons. Calling it now: this will be a one off event.
They are getting absolutely slammed in the Instagram comments and rightfully so. Some are saying that’ll be informing city council. They still have time to reverse course, but it’s not looking good based on their replies

What makes this 10x worse is that this response isn’t a surprise to them. If you look back on their posts the past couple weeks every single top comment is imploring them to confirm there would be free water.
They even said that they would be “working with their partners” on the situation. I honestly don’t know if this decision is more greed or stupidity. Plenty of both to go around for these organizers I imagine.

Bad form for the fest. Lets not provide any free water stations, and push alcohol sales instead. You can get 8 oz. of free water if you check yourself into the med tent for dehydration though. What a joke. And then they reply to one comment on Instagram basically dismissing concerns since the organizer also puts on other fests in the area. Yikes
What’s insane about this is you know someone in the higher ups had to bless that comment. The fact that they specifically stipulated only 8 oz if you are suffering from dehydration has me rolling. This almost feels like something you’d read on the onion
Not to mention, clearly their posts are scheduled but I still find it hilarious that in the midst of all this uproar they are STILL posting about their alcohol sponsors.
The fact that their social media manager typed out the comment that said if you’re dying then we will give you an 8 oz cup of water, and then decided to post that comment thinking it would help their situation, is fucking wild
Just got the following update in an email from Lovin Life:
“HYDRATION UPDATE: Lovin' Life Music Fest appreciates the valuable feedback from our fans and expresses gratitude for their continued support of our mission to deliver an unparalleled music fest experience in Charlotte. In response to concerns raised, particularly regarding access to water amenities, we wish to assure all attendees of our unwavering commitment to safety and satisfaction. While water has consistently been available at medical tents for emergency purposes and for purchase at various points throughout the festival grounds, we are pleased to announce the implementation of water stations to further enhance accessibility. We encourage and welcome attendees to bring their own empty cups to further promote sustainability and eco-conscious practices. Southern Entertainment remains dedicated to listening to our fans and continuously improving our offering to provide the best possible music festival experiences. We look forward to welcoming everyone to Lovin' Life in a few short weeks and creating unforgettable memories together.”
On the one hand I do appreciate them finally taking the feedback and not continuing to double down on their tone-deafness. But the fact that they asked us to bring empty cups instead of hydration packs is absolutely hysterical
