Dua, Sturgill & Pretty Lights are genuinely tremendous gets
I don’t really get it. My daughter was explaining to me at dinner that she’s become a really good performer compared to years past. But I don’t go see a headliner because they can dance or because their choreography improved. It’s 99% of the time going to be for the music. I really don’t like dance pop as it rarely challenges my head or holds any appeal. And I never really liked anything I heard by her over the years. It’s okay for those who want to sing along to hits they like. But definitely not for me. Guess it’s a shot for ACL to bring in some new generations (and types) of fans so that’s probably smart like when Billie was there in 2018.
I pretty much feel the same way as you do. For the record, I absolutely hate pop music in general, and unfortunately post covid, there’s been a heavy lean into it. And while I know the fest for over a decade has had anything from EDM cheese to hip hop to pop, I do miss the days where ACL leaned heavy on Alternative or Rock in general with a sprinkle of the poppier side of things and now it’s the complete opposite and the demographic is much different.
I haven’t been since 2019, so this will be my first since. I’m sure I’ll end up having a decent enough time, but I do wish we’d get something more than Blink 182, who I generally don’t care for either. I was joking with a buddy of mine that as I’ve gotten older, I get more excited for what Levitation books than ACL. It’s a shame because I went every year from 2004 till 2019, but that’s changed. I feel like the embodiment of the Principal Skinner meme of “No, it’s the children who are wrong” when I see others excited about Dua or Pink or Billie or Miley in the past few years.

DUA AND A BUNCH OF DUDES (plus the wondrous Laura of Khruangbin)
Can't have all male-fronted headliners. This fest had 4 of 6 female headliners in 2022 after some criticisms came up starting around 2015.
Clearly, the promoters have changed gears booking-wise. No idea about the M-F % for the rest of the lineup as 80% of names are new to me. The lack of female complainers seems to have found other subjects to take up their time.
Dua is the first name listed on the Glastonbury lineup this year. Which also has Coldplay listed on it after her. (I love that lineup, holy crap its good)
Her new album was 80% produced by Kevin Parker too. My fav.
esteban , were you at the Sturgill roo show in 2018? I wasn't, but the reaction on this board got me to check him out. Been a big fan ever since. He sold my ticket. Very very excited for his show. Just hope he's not up against Tyler.

No because I didn’t go that year to Bonnaroo. I saw some of a set a year or two before and came to like him. That kind of happens a lot. I’ve gotten tons of good recs on this site that paid off, and I’m glad others have too. I don’t hate the lineup for this ACL but I don’t think I’d travel for it.
Nice update to the thread title andrew although ironically I think this lineup will attract both more zoomers and more chairs lol
i doubt last year had any more or less chair folks but damn, that was the most broccoli haired teenagers i have ever seen at the fest in my entire time going. literally everywhere i turned there were at least five of them.

One more thought on this line-up, ACL usually has me on booking a couple bigger indie rock names in the upper part of the undercard. Last year had Yeah Yeah Yeahs, M83, and the Walkmen. 2022 had War on Drugs, Phoenix, and Spoon.
That feels really missing this year, and would go really far with me personally on the line-up. I wanted a name I'd be excited about playing at like 5-6 PM. There were a few bands touring though that'd have fit it. The National, My Morning Jacket, Arcade Fire, St Vincent.
I'm guessing those bands don't move as many tickets relative to their booking cost as some of these newer hip with the kids bands though, most of the Livenation/C3 fests are moving away from booking those sorts of acts. Which makes me miss my smaller fests like Fun Fun Fun a whole lot. But ACL had kinda held strong on booking a few every year and I guess they are going more the way of Lollapalooza too. And maybe it's just my taste, maybe Catfish and the Bottlemen and Foster the People fill that spot for some people which would be fair. And I liked the Orville Peck booking, somewhere between indie and country
Also kinda hoped they'd have me with some smaller country bookings, they did a good job on that last year and we have two country headliners this year, but I didn't see much on this lineup.

Waiting for dailies before I pull the trigger
100% agree w/ this.
MMJ and /or St Vincent would make this line-up so much better.
Also...........ACL used to be so good at giving us one or two old-school Hip-Hop/ Rap acts (thinking about that LL show in 16? or that Ice Cube show in 17?)
Im also waiting for dailies and after show announcements, but for now, can only see going both nights of Pretty Lights.

Glastonbury lists their headliners in order of the day theyre playing. It has no bearing on popularity at all. They do the same when they announce stage splits. Top 3 names in order of day theyre closing their respective stage.
Also once again they crushed it in the "country music I thought only I cared about" category. The Droptines, Tyler Halverson, Braxton Keith, Emily Nenni, Katie Pruitt, sick as hell to see all of them on here.
llamaoftime183 here’s a handful of smaller country names if you’re not familiar with any of them

Thanks, I'll check some of them out. Had only heard of Halverson and Katie Pruitt out of those
1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/4: knock2 3/7: Inhaler* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol
Agreed Saturday is the strongest, but weekend one Friday undercard is also very good for my taste. Would be happy to get to see most of Norah Jones, the Marias, Barry Can’t Swim, Mannequin Pussy (love the new album), maybe Eggy, maybe Catfish, maybe Sir Chloe. Sunday is a bit of a wasteland though…
